The title is mine. Hers is "The Ship is Sinking" in reference to the Ship of State. Transnationals are bigger than nations. It is lucky that most of them are in America. It is lucky that we live for now in the Seat of Empire. War is unpredictable, so those in the Seat of Empire won't allow war here. So, for now, things are tickety-boo.

Great piece. Thanks for posting.
Things are tickety-boo for now indeed. The behavior of our government and the transnationals is not sustainable. It will fail from within long before a sizable percentage of the population ever figures it out. Our kids may be around to witness the collapse, but I don't think we will. But one can hope.

Along in the same vein is a column by Bill Moyers.
In the fall of 2001, in the aftermath of 9/11, as families grieved and the nation mourned, Washington swarmed with locusts of the human kind: wartime opportunists, lobbyists, lawyers, ex-members of Congress, bagmen for big donors: all of them determined to grab what they could for their corporate clients and rich donors while no one was looking.

Across the land, the faces of Americans of every stripe were stained with tears. Here in New York, we still were attending memorial services for our firemen and police. But in the nation's capital, within sight of a smoldering Pentagon that had been struck by one of the hijacked planes, the predator class was hard at work pursuing private plunder at public expense, gold-diggers in the ashes of tragedy exploiting our fear, sorrow, and loss.
Best quote
So it goes: The selling off of the Republic, piece by piece. What was it Mark Twain said? "There is no distinctive native American criminal class except Congress."

Why is it that Bill Moyers and Robert Reich always seem to make the most sense.

Our corporate media ( particularly the " Fair And Balanced" network ) are just propaganda machines pimping wars for the Military Industrial Complex. They lied about Iraq, they lied about Ukraine, now they are lying about Syria.
Reminds me of the old Soviet joke about their two main newspapers- " There is no truth in Pravda ( Truth ) and there is no news in Izvestiya ( News )."
