OC requires the same licensing as CC in TX, but apparently if the gun is exposed it will make the gun owner want to kill.

Imagine that you are enjoying a meal in a restaurant. At a nearby table, another customer is unhappy with their dinner. His voice grows louder as he angrily berates the waitress over the slow service and the fact that he asked for mustard, not mayonnaise. You look over at the commotion and see that he has a gun in a holster strapped to his hip.

What would you do in this situation? Wait and see if the guy is actually nuts and pulls his gun? Pay your check and leave? Not pay your check and leave faster? If you’re packing heat yourself, will you feel better about the situation?

It’s time to think about these questions now, as the passage of Texas House Bill 910 means that starting on January 1, 2016, handgun owners can get a license to openly carry a handgun in the same places that allow carrying of a legally concealed one. That places include restaurants. The gun must be in a holster on the hip or under the arm.
The author then cites three instances in which shootings occurred in restaurants, as if they have to do with the type of carry. He closes with fear mongering over actually putting a 30.07 sign to use.

Message: anyone who carries a gun, whether openly or concealed, is dangerous.

Here in TX, the only people we consider dangerous are the ones publishing this stuff. Nearly all of it is worthless, alarmist click-bait.

There are OC town halls happening all over the state carried out by local LEO. They are aware and will more than likely call out Chicken Little before the person open carrying.

Clarifying Texas’ new Open Carry law.

Those from Round Rock and Georgetown Police Departments said they did not have statistics, but in their experience, most of those crimes involve individuals who are not CHL holders.

Meanwhile...in Ft. Worth

Open carry in Texas after Jan. 1: chance for fashion statement?

The bigger pain is for businesses and state agencies wherein they have to decide on whether or not to allow OC. My guess is that any place that already bans CC will just up the ante to OC. Doesn't matter much to me as I don't frequent those places anyway.
