Re: White men with guns

For accuracy's sake:
As governor of California, Reagan signed the Mulford Act into law in 1967. Written by Republican Assemblyman Don Mulford, the legislation was the most sweeping state edict in all the country, prohibiting the more or less free carrying of firearms in public. It went along with the rest of his heavy-handed entire law-and-order agenda and inspired an avalanche of new gun laws nationwide.

The purpose of the law was to disarm the Black Panthers, a radical leftist group that openly carried firearms, kept an eye out on the police, and even took their rifles to the state Capitol to protest what they decried as racist legislation.

Regardless of past intent, the NRA seems to have stepped up marketing efforts to the African-American community in recent years with ads such as this:

Lately I cant seem to hit a single firearms related site without seeing an embedded NRA/Colin Noir collaboration.

Now if the NRA would take it a couple of steps further, fire Wayne and the Old Bald White Guy leadership team and diversify top down, they might just succeed in reaching a larger group of Americans.

It does not help that white men are burning down mosques like the the one in Houston on Christmas. Here is what CNN had to say --
Strong said it was "too soon to (determine) cause and origin" of the fire. She said the blaze had "multiple points of origin" and that it "appears suspicious."

Pffft, I think we know who did it.

This one's a special case and has been since day one. I'd hoped they'd gotten bored and moved on to troll some other site, but sadly I was wrong.

That's nonsense. I suggest you do better research. Adam Winkler's "The Secret History of Guns" in The Atlantic is a good place to start.

The NRA supported gun control from the turn of the century until the 70s when the ILA was founded. In fact, the Mulford Act (1967, not 70s.) was one of NRA's first targets and they clearly stated their support for the rights of the Black Panthers (and all citizens) to bear arms.

Yes, sadly.

No, it isn't. NRA's failings and biases are incriminating enough on their own. Criticism by way of uninformed hyperbole is counterproductive and erodes our (gun owners who don't support the NRA) credibility.

Yet the organization has ronald reagan as their hero, what a phony organization. Also, The NRA has morphed from good gun organization to the right-wings version of moveon
