Just found another reason to hate the NRA...

Just watched Dana Loesch on NRA News ranting against the "godless left".
She seems to have a special kind of crazy which is hard to trump. (even by Trump)
Always known that gun owning, left-wing atheists were unwelcome in the NRA, but this pretty much underlines it.

Never could understand aligning a social issue with a political faction. No group is going to be absolutely aligned on any issue. It would seem a good way to shoot yourself in the foot. (Heh)

OK. I had to listen to the vid. She accuses the "Godless Left" of attacking people of faith after the terrorist attacks in CA and France.
I wonder if it occurred to her that these terrorist attacks were being committed by people of faith.
Typical.

Well, I'm sure she considers me and my fellow
Agents of Shield to be "godless..." so...

To be slightly fair to the NRA, she's just a paid commentator and the NRA can always count on the CYA disclaimer that her views aren't necessarily representative of their views.
But it was pretty difficult to listen to Loesch. Just so much vitriol, and kind of all over the place (Benghazi, Obamacare, really!?). I couldn't even make it all the way through. I've heard her on Fox news and in other venues before, but not like this. It made my head hurt. Give me a Colion rant instead!

It's shit like this that makes it very, very difficult to defend good work NRA has done for education and gun rights. This person is awful. If I were religious, I'd pray that she switch sides on gun issues.

Her rant is guilty of the same points she uses to rail against "the godless left".

Okay. Could not takes 10 seconds of the video. The NRA does offer very valid training with firearms but I find their political agenda very offensive. This video just makes me want to punch a NRA spokesperson. The firearms community can be much better than this bigoted rhetoric.
Why do firearms bring out the worst in many people?

So as an atheist, I'm also a terrorist? Huh...
I'm unclear now, am I supposed to get 72 virgins (or raisins, depending on translation) before or after I'm sent to the Hell I don't believe in?
Guess people still hate atheists then? I remember a poll conducted some years back that found atheists are pretty much the most hated group in the country, the least likely to be voted for and least likely to get approval to marry a son/daughter. Like you could be a gay black Muslim and still have a better shot at the Presidency than an atheist.
Are we still public enemy #1, or have Muslims taken that spot now?

I find that if I don't go around telling people I'm an atheist, they pretty much don't worry about it.
But then, I hate Evangelicals of all sorts, from churchy folks to salespeople.

Yep. If I get into that discussion with deeply religious people, I'm Lutheran - because technically I was baptized as such, even if I never believed in it.

Yeah, slipped up once with someone I shouldn't have and had a far longer conversation than I really wanted to about my atheism. Some people get really weird about it when they find out.

I was one too and the best I'll say is I went through confirmation as a Lutheran. I don't get bothered by religion and people who believe. I'll support them when in need. For some religion is important and if a friend believes that's a part of them, a good part. I'm more agnostic borderline atheist or somedays I'm likely to say the old beliefs were just as good.

Yeah, luckily it doesn't come up very often. I've personally found that "agnostic" tends to lead to longer conversations, as it can be interpreted as "oh you're not sure, maybe I can convince you!"
If asked I typically say I'm a "Taoist," which benefits both in that Christians are usually too unfamiliar with it to criticize, and in that it's more or less accurate. It's basically an atheistic philosophy that I like because there's no diety or divine demands necessary.
Plus, Christians who try to challenge or ask about it often get confused by the cryptic, seemingly paradoxical elements like the concept of Wu Wei or "action without action", that to lead you must follow, the one who gives is rich, you only lose what you try to hold, or that you must create without owning. Even evangelicals will give up quickly!
Plus some of the Taoist sex practices and techniques are "overpowered." Learn just some of it and you'll automatically be the best your partner has ever experienced.

Tell them to read the Tao of Pooh.
Doubt that would even help though...

In what universe is 72 virgins desirable? Can you imagine having sex with 72 virgins every night -in perpetuity? I'd rather spend eternity with a couple of experienced prostitutes -way more fun. Just my .02 cents.
Also, if you choose the prostitutes the Flying Spaghetti Monster might throw in a case of Sun-Maid Raisins.

Third-rate Coulter wannabe.
She's so over the top she sounds like a villain from Scooby Doo.

Interesting commentary
The NRA should just stick with it's core message/cause, the 2nd amendment....and get back to basics with some good old fashioned firearms safety education.
You will alienate a number of groups of people...religious or otherwise if you pull out the religion card.
Leave it non-sectarian...don't go there.
I at times am glad they are around to champion the 2nd Amendment...yet within the last 10 years they are more of an embarrassment.
Would I join this organization? No....not in it's current form, and certainly not if they start bringing religion into it.

Started out kind of NRA-related. Before you know it, we've got 72 virgins, atheists, Taoists, agnostics, and some weird tentacled thing; we've got Scooby Doo and Coulter, too; we've got Pooh, Muslims, Sun-Maid raisins, prostitutes, and public enemy number 1... and we're still only on page 1. God, I love this place.

I'm still figuring that the correct translation might be a virgin of 72 (years of age) - gender unspecified...
