All who carry guns other than hunting rifles are planning on using them to kill others (even allegedly in self-defense). A civilized society should ban them. It’s pretty simple.
Modern technologies can “personalize” guns to prevent their use by children and other unauthorized people, including those who acquire stolen guns.
Just as potential motor vehicle drivers must undergo training and testing before receiving a driver’s license, potential gun owners could be required to undergo extensive training and testing before receiving a firearm license.

Ever watch that segment -- I think it was on 60 Minites -- about the gun dealer that imported some of the German made electronic guns that could only be fired by authorized person? The dealer said he was given so much grief from both ends of the spectrum that he said NEVER AGAIN!!

Keep that info. If they do any gun-owner shaming (like a database of gun owners), we can run an ad in the paper asking for lawsuits against the paper.

So could trigger locks, lock boxes, safes, and a multitude of other "technologies"...some of which have been around much longer than firearms.

Either print or digital makes the point when they refuse to run your ad...

It's printable as a PDF.

Their editorial writers must have missed the difference between planning and preparing. I have prepared to lose my job, but I've not planned to lose it.
Edit: never mind. Wrongly insulted the Times when it's the reader's letter that's so bad.

Cracked me up.
Yeah, well, I'm going to line my virtual unicorn corral with digital NYT pages. Ten articles a month including ads.

That appears to be from a letter to the editor, so it's not the Times' fault.

My bad

, though it's telling that the Times' op-ed writers are so bad I can't tell the difference between their writing and that of a reader. Usually it's fairly obvious.

The letters were reactions to a previous article.

This may sound cold, but some people need to die RIGHT NOW.
It's not going to be 5-10 minutes later after a suspect has violated the spiritual power of a restraining order, nor will it be on hold with LAPD.
Right now. The threat needs to be stopped.

To be fair, they only wrote letters.

I think that's in reference to an assailant, not the letter writers.

What assailant? I had re-scanned the thread prior to my reply and must have missed the part about an assailant.
