2That's not the way I read the article. I read it as people on assistance have gotten so lazy and entitled that they don't vote. People who where on assistance are disgusted with the laziness of people now on assistance (their relatives and neighbors) and are no longer voting democrat in an effort to cut them off and make them try to do something.
So when articles like this imply things like why don't they vote for their best interests, it's an assumption that if an area has a lot of people using assistance that all of them are on assistance and should vote accordingly to keep the money flowing their way. A lot of people who got help from the government have no problem voting for program limits and benefits that taper off over time. Since they don't see the need to assist able bodied people for life.
