Ben Carson is now comparing some refugees to rabid dogs.
Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on Thursday used an extended metaphor about rabid dogs to discuss efforts to vet refugees fleeing the bloody civil war in Syria.

While speaking at a campaign event in Mobile, Alabama, Carson compared the need to screen refugees before they enter the U.S. with the steps a community would take to protect children from rabid dogs.

"If there is a rabid dog running around your neighborhood, you're probably not going to assume something good about that dog. And you're probably going to put your children out of the way," Carson said. "Doesn't mean that you hate all dogs, by any stretch of the imagination. But, you're putting your intellect into motion and you're thinking, how do I protect my children?"

"By the same token, we have to have in place screening mechanisms that allow us to determine who the mad dogs are, quite frankly," Carson continued. "Who are the people who want to come in here and hurt us and want to destroy us? Until we know how to do that, just like it would be foolish to put your child out into the neighborhood knowing that that was going on, it is foolish for us to accept people if we cannot have the appropriate type of screening."

With statements like that he is not out to win Muslim friends and influence them. He probably would not understand that dogs are considered unclean by Muslims in the Middle East and being compared to a dog is a great insult.

FiremanBob wrote:Love all the name-calling - so civil. "Xenophobe"? If you can call those who disagree with you that, how about we call you American-hating, anti-Semitic, Christian-hating pantywaists? Does that advance the serious discussion of the real issue? But it probably makes you feel superior in your "safe space" here.

So following the logic in the replies above, I take it that the "one drop" principle is still alive in Democrat-land. If any number of refugees are genuine women and children, then they all are. Politifact is not a hack megaphone for the Democrat party. (But its distortions are the genuine faux news.)

How deeply in denial can a person get? Y'all demonstrate that it's very deep indeed. The eagerness with which you believe every word from your government, now that a fellow left-wing extremist is in charge, shows either childish naivete or craven, partisan complicity. Which is it in your case?

Since you have such compassion for these "refugees" how many of you are taking some into your own homes?

And to show the Politifaux lie, here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... error.html

Don't forget the Tsarnaev brothers were "refugees", too.
Glad you love the name calling- seems you whiny little right wingers can't take what you dish out.
We don't believe every word from our government, even when the executive branch is run by a right- of- center president like Obama ( obviously you have not read the threads here that are critical of about the TPP or drone strikes or the current administration's support of Saudi Arabia's war in Yemen, etc. ).
But congratulations on including every right wing talking point on the Syrian refugees in your word salad- Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly repeated every point ad nauseam the day before your post and here you are, like a dutiful little troll, to spew them up once again in our house.
When will you right wing dupes figure out the outside of the FOX NEWS bubble the shit you repeat does not make you sound smart? And why do you have the nerve to get all butthurt when somebody who can reason calls you on your bullshit?
PS: So out of millions of refugees coming into the U.S.A. you point out that the fact two of them , the Tsarnaevs, commited an act of terror. Statistically, your concern about dying at the hands of a foreign born terrorist is insignificant. Why do you not admit that your so- called concern for safety is really a veiled racially motivated attack on people you despise because they are Arabs and Muslim?
Oh, and they are powerless. That is an absolute prerequisite for the cowardly bullies of the Extreme Right.

Oh, Bob

Makes an inaccurate statement regarding the majority age and gender of Syrian refugees.

Is given links to FactCheck.org and UNHCR data showing him his numbers are wrong.

Comes back complaining about PolitiFact, even though no one linked to PolitiFact.

Then he links to, wait for it . . . the Daily fucking Mail  A racist British tabloid.

FWI: The Daily Mail recently published a cartoon showing bearded hook nosed refugees along with a bunch of rats, crossing the border. Lovely echoes of Nazi propaganda.

I know I joke around with you Bob, but seriously, all kidding aside. You're going to have to try harder. Being an internet troll is already subpar, but being a subpar troll . . . ?

More Xenophobia from Governor Abbott
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas has instructed volunteer organizations that settle international refugees to immediately stop helping Syrians in the wake of the deadly Paris attacks — even though it may not have the authority to do so.

The Health and Human Services Commission wrote Thursday to volunteer and community groups reminding them of a "statutory duty to cooperate and consult" with the state. The letters were released to the media on Friday.

"If you have any active plans to resettle Syrian refugees in Texas, please discontinue those plans immediately," according to the letter, which was signed by Chris Turner, the agency's executive commissioner.

It also asked that groups notify state authorities immediately if they learn that federal authorities are proposing resettlement in Texas using their services, adding "we reserve the right to refuse to cooperate with any resettlement on any grounds."

He stated he has the authority to withhold funding if the agencies don't comply with his orders.

Considering the stance and statements from front runners in the presidential republican clown show does anyone now doubt that the right wing is a party of bigots, racist. war mongering xenophobic's and appearing to hate anyone not a WASP??

This is down right scary. I thought GWB would never get elected - this started as governor and for sure as prez, but he "won" - I fear it could happen again with this ragged selection of goofy people on the right.

BTW, has anyone seen the report from Texas Gov about how they monitored and saved Texas from Jade Helm?? :sarcasm:

That report is declared top secret and is only to be seen by the top crazy leaders of Texas. That is Abbott, Patrick, Paxton and their hope for the next US Pesident Cruz. Lamar "no climate change" Smith is allowed to see only parts of it. It was written by Congressman Louie Gohmert from notes written on toilet paper found in the men's restroom at the rest stop on I35 just out of Hillsboro. :sarcasm: :D
