I think they use customized Ruger Mini-14s.culannmac wrote:Was just looking through some pics of the Paris terrorist attack. I'm assuming these are French Police and not soldiers. Anyone have a clue what kind of rifles they're carrying? Wood stock and everything, shades of the 1950s.
Or even just some rope to make their own.. But you know, mini 14 isnt the worst choice for this. At least it prevent panic spray at 900 rounds a minute ..begemot wrote:Those are Police Nationale and the rifles are Mini-14s, as SG noted. You'd think they would give them some surplus slings or something.
I think in the right hands it's a great choice. They're just a rail and cheap red dot away from looking like they weren't fished out of a dusty box at an Ozark garage sale.dandad wrote:Or even just some rope to make their own.. Holy crap! You're right - there's the selector on the back of the receiver. Easier to see in a high-res photo.eelj wrote:Ruger AC 556. military (ATeam) police only. Selective fire.

There's that joke that they used live ammo in the Mini-14s on the set of the A-Team and told the actors to aim at each other - and that's why nobody ever got injured or killed on that show...Phaedrus wrote:I hated my Mini-14, and I feel sorry for any trooper forced to engage an AK-47 armed foe armed with just that Mini. Make the first shot count in case that's the only one that works!

Unlike the US, they don't want their law enforcement looking like commandos. An overall principle I agree with.TheViking wrote:Surprised they have that and not the FAMAS like the military does.
I think you got a rare bad one. A past friend absolutely loved his and we put a lot of rounds, handloads and bulk surplus, through his. We never had problems and I've heard uniformly good things about it from others who owned one.Phaedrus wrote:I hated my Mini-14, and I feel sorry for any trooper forced to engage an AK-47 armed foe armed with just that Mini. I thought the same thing. He looks like he's patrolling the highlands looking for quail or something.drigeba wrote:That blade front sight is unique to the mini-14.
While those guys are probably having a really bad day, the guy in the back needs a little better muzzle discipline in that crowd...imho.
The Mini 14 isn't an assault rifle, it's a sporting rifle and a police rifle. It's not a military grade assault rifle and it never has been.Phaedrus wrote:I hated my Mini-14, and I feel sorry for any trooper forced to engage an AK-47 armed foe armed with just that Mini.
