He makes the financial argument that the many take precedence over the few, saying that if the EU spends lots of money on the relatively few refugees coming, they cannot help the millions stuck in Lebanon and Turkey, and Libya and Syria, and so on. That argument has merit.

Norway has a population of 5 million, smaller than NYC and close to that of Minnesota or Wisconsin. Resources are finite. Food, housing, medical care are expensive and the numbers coming are many, disruptive, and increasing. I don't believe Norway has an over abundance of unused housing, and winter is coming. It is possible to overextend help past the point of ability to provide. They don't have to let anybody in, but they have. It is possible that they are in the best position to decide their own limits. It seems reasonable to want to control your own country.

Their financial reasoning is sound and based on reality(IMHO).

Swedish furniture giant Ikea will produce 10,000 flat-pack shelters for the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) as temporary homes for refugees across the world.

These appear to be an upgraded solid walled tent, no heater or plumbing included.

I agree and will not judge other countries that make this choice. Many countries that joined the EU do not have the same options as Norway. Staying out of the EU has benefits.

It's one thing to let people in and I commend nations that do but the complete naivety of countries like Sweden is unbelievable. Many are entering Sweden and Germany under false pretenses and really playing the system, men in their early 20s claiming to be children and the authorities believing it. The Eritrean who murdered the 2 women at the Ikea a couple of months ago had just been notified that he was being deported, guess what they won't be deporting him for many many years now because he will be living in a very cushy prison with a very nice warm bed good food beer if he wants it.

Because he only shows up every couple of months and I just got around to the official warnings. He has 2, I imagine when he gets around to logging back in and sees that, he will implode and earn the third.

Many European nations have vast immigrant populations, and they maintain those with a fraction of the resources of a country like ours. Housing stock is already at a premium in many countries, with much greater population density than we have here. It's no exaggeration to say that taking in so many thousands - especially in a short time - causes a burden to their respective societies; German and French friends of mine wait years to get a flat even without the influx.

Allowing for the very real presence of right-wing elements with racist motivations, it is not racist to say that an influx of immigrants causes issues. It would be just so if the immigrants were English. (some of whom are banned outright in any cause for the disruption they cause during football games on the continent)

It should be noted, as I believe others have, that gulf Arab nations that have poured much treasure into Syria have taken in the tiniest number of refugees from there by comparison.
