On November 6, 2015 the McIntosh County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 emergency call in where live rounds were being fired at reenactors who were participating in the Civil War reenactment of the Battle of Honey Springs located north of Checotah. Deputies arrived on scene and quickly located Gary Alen Lane, who resides at a residence near the battlefield. Mr. Lane, who was intoxicated and holding a loaded sawed off shotgun, refused to comply with commands
