just know you state, city, even local laws on blade length and type. It can lead to a Felony in most states, and , that means no CCW in many states.

I haven't taken to carrying any kind of weapon but I seriously think about it. Meanwhile, I'm just another wallet-and-keys carrying Joe.
Now, if just looked past my front door, you'd think I was some kind of armed-to-the-teeth obsessive gun-nut.....which is true. :P

Since I don't possess a carry permit I ignored this thread when it was started. But I do carry on my own property. Right now I carry whatever I'm using for hunting, in the off season when I feel like expressing myself as a free citizen of the USA and not a subject of the british crown I will carry one of my handguns, generally my S&W 624. When I drive to town or to visit neighbors this time of year I have my shotgun fully cased along side of me in my PU in case I see a grouse along side of the road. I do not feel the need for concealed carry because I live in a very civilized part of the country and in a state of "Jeffersonian Rural Bliss" if I was an "urban rat" living in some urban hell hole I would get the proper licensing and carry a 1911 concealed but only if I could not better my lot in life by moving out of town.

which the local schools here have outlawed. I found out when I was thinking of getting this for my daughters for their 3 block walk from the bus after school on the days they are at their moms house. When with me I pick them up at school so they dont have to worry.

None of this modern crap.

:drunklep:
I've owned an HSc, just 'cause I had to own one at some point. It's one of the lest likable pistols I've ever owned, yet at the same time there's just something so utterly COOL about the HSc. The DA trigger is horrendous, the SA is workable, and that's about all you can say. The whole slide-lock arrangement works out much better on paper than it does in the real world. The ergonomics are kinda messed up with the trigger being higher than the top of the back strap arch; that's just weird.

But they are utterly reliable and they are very accurate. And for some God-knows-why reason, I actually miss mine...go figure???

H&K's HK4 was a very interesting spin on the HSc, correcting only a few problems, but the caliber change thing was really great.

But I understand you on this "modern crap" thing. I have some old school pocket guns too. I have a Beretta model 70 (those are just fantastic), an Astra 300, and a Colt Agent; and I occasionally carry those.

DUUUDE...

Tell me 'bout your P-07; I've been eyeballing those.

Does it come with the parts needed to switch from traditional safety to decocker? How's the DA & SA trigger pull on yours? The one I shot had a decent SA trigger, and a so-so DA trigger (smooth, but heavy), but she shot lights out.

What do you like about it most?
What do you like about it least?

It comes with the parts to turn the decocker into a safety, which is what I did. Took about 5 minutes, lots of videos on youtube. Accurate as hell even out to 50 yards, it has eaten everything I've put through it. From +p to cheap steel/aluminum without missing a beat. After 800 or so rounds the triggers have really really smoothed out, but even out of the box it wasn't bad. DA is long, and there is the normal CZ staging in SA but overall I love it. I would recommend getting the 2014 model, as it has all of the additions from the P09 (which I also have and love, plus it fits into my P07 holsters) including better metal sights, rounded edges for easier carrier, a flat trigger (so much nicer than the original duty model p07 I have) and interchangeable backstraps.

I carry it in a SHTF Ace 1 Gen 2 holster which is my all time favorite holster (so far). Mags are a bit expensive, but thats mostly because mec-gar doesn't sell any yet.

That's a cool choice - a Gun's gun. I really like 3rd gen Smiths. One of my first carry guns was a 3913 Ladysmith. It lives in the safe now but it's still one of favorites - I buy old 3913s whenever I see good deals. Don't have a 5906 but looking to add it to the collection.

Why, thank you! [emoji5] I bought it in 1989, the first year of production, upon my return from my last overseas assignment. The only thing I don't like about it is the magazine cutout.

Initially I had bought a pistol (brand name escapes me now) which was full size, black, parkerized, and DAO. That thing had what I would swear was a minimum 15 lb trigger. After the first two shots I had to shift my grip and use BOTH index fingers to squeeze the trigger. It went back within a week as a trade (plus cash) for the S&W.

The Lady Smith is a nice gun also. Somewhat smaller and, of course, lighter. The 5906 is all stainless, and so a little heavier than most are used to now, but it soaks up recoil. Cleans up easily, too.

The only thing I worry about is it being taken as evidence if I ever need to use it socially.
