While I would have no practical use for a flamethrower, it would be nice to own so you can say you own one. Retail is 699.00. It does seem like a nice retro IRA terrorist weapon to have in the collection.

3We used to use little hand flamers to defoliate. I must admit I don't see the use case. Not sure I have any German bunkers or Imperial tunnels that need clearing.

4Fun for starting camp fires. Not as good as the afterburners on a jet car, but close.

I can't really tell if you're serious or not. This is normal bee behavior for this time of year. Colonies split and the bees swarm. If you stay away from them or keep calm near them there is no problem. They find a new place to nest and calm down. Just like most of this country need to. We're not the the only things that live here. Also, the media need to quit with the" Africanized Killer Bee" shit, it's just hype.

11I would imagine a flamethrower is sorta like an immersion blender or a bulldozer, in that you never really know what you're going to use it for until you own one, and afterwards you wonder how you ever got along without it.

Re: XM42... Legal in 49 States.
14Practical use is relative.
For example:
Burning the needles off of cacti.
During extreme periods of drought in the semi-arid Chihuahua region, my Grandfather use to take cactus and use a flame to burn off the sharp needles so that his live stock would have something to eat that provided water. It worked for them.
Using the XM42 would have made this a much more interesting experience.

By the way, flame throwers are in common use in agriculture. Albeit the ones I used as a kid to clear brush were slight less dramatic.

I saw one of these lit up in a dorm once. Four feet of dripping flame. The first 2 seconds were pure excitement.

Re: XM42... Legal in 49 States.
19Meh. I don't seem to remember a single instance where a flamethrower, agricultural or otherwise, has been used in a crime here in the US. Why use the blunt power of legislation on something that has had no prior use in the way they fear? Instead, it would likely create tax stamps for the little weed burners that many of us have used, classifying them as AOW's.

23If I still lived up North, it might come in in right handy for clearing driveways and such. Them Hawks heaters just don't do the job as well.
