It's not awful to shoot but certainly not a range gun. I think the Shield in .380 would be the bee's knees but they aren't allowed in CA.
A revolver would be better if carrying 22lr than a semi-auto because of that issue.

Not sure I want to carry a small sized 40 :-) But if you can shoot it well, the size is right.

I vary between my Sig P238 and my J-Frame .38 sp. The Sig is my go-to carry, but it is not a good at front pocket carry (square corners and all). The J-Frame is hammerless and conceals very well in my front pocket. I trust both guns 100%, but I trust the J-Frame 100% ++ ;-)

Also, the J-Frame is better for spare ammo. I can carry a couple of speed strips easily without showing. Spare magazines for the P238 no so much unless I untuck my shirt.

I started to carry wherever legally permitted. I'm a new license-to-carry holder and my mentality is the best way to get used to the feel of carrying a firearm is to carry a firearm everywhere I am permitted until it feels "normal". I spent a good portion of my life in places with very restrictive gun regulations, so it's still a bit "weird" to carry a firearm and the way around this nervousness is to learn to carry it and trust my gear until it feels as normal as carrying my cellphone.

I'm more apt to forget my cell phone than my EDC. Feel really naked without both, though.

You get used to it when you find the right hoster and firearm. There is no single correct firearm or method, but there are bad choices. :)

I usually have my P239 9mm with me in the vehicle but don’t carry most of the time. Partially because I don’t feel the “need” to do so. However.... things may be changing a bit in my thinking. Seems there is an upswing in violence in places that traditionally I didn’t think about before. Even in good ol’ Montana...
As was said in another thread... really have to re-evaluate my training!

I try to be reliably responsible for my own safety and that of the innocent, but it's a pain in the butt (Rohrbaugh R9 hip pocket) or kills my back (HK P7 at 5 o'clock) while driving. I'd really like police protection but they're way too big to carry, much less conceal...

I carry everyday & everywhere, except work. I keep the gun in my car (in a safe, depending on where I work). I even carry in places that have signs “no weapons/firearms/etc”. There’s a shopping plaza with these signs, and there’s a movie theater there where a shooting happened, so fuck your signs. I mean, I’m a law abiding citizen but seriously fuck that! My first gun was a Ruger SR9c but I never got comfortable so I sold it to buy a SW MP2 9mm. I love it. As some have asked “why do I carry?” Because I live in Floriduh and it’s people scare me. Also Trump was elected and I feel it emboldened people to be crazy assholes even more than usual. Seriously though if I can protect myself, loved ones or fellow citizens in a dangerous situation, I want to be able too. I mentioned on another thread, I try to advocate for gun ownership by getting people to actually shoot a gun. I believe it changes people’s perception. While I was never pro or anti-gun, shooting one made me want to own one, and then I was hooked. My thoughts have definitely evolved on the subject.

I love the 9mm SP2022. How does yours handle the 40 S&W? Bad muzzle flip?

the only problem I had initially was that once in awhile I would get a shell that didn't want to chamber. but after putting a bunch of rounds through it haven't had that problem since.

I have to admit I had to look up what muzzle flip meant lol. no it not bad. I don't really have to re-adjust after a shot. I've had pretty decent groupings with it. I know this is weird to say but, the feel of the grip reminds me of a 1911. Its comfortable and I can get a good grip on it and handle the recoil better.
