As a non native Georgian, I had never heard of this 1982 ordnance until this morning. I was wondering what the reasoning/intent was for passing it, recognizing that this is after all, Georgia. Found this from 2001. Interesting read.

On the ATL TV story this morning, I seem to remember the police chief(?) saying that only about 50% of the households actually have firearms. Still, that's just a coin toss. Trying to find the story, but its not up on their website yet.

In my neighborhood folks either have dogs, alarms or firearms. Hot burglaries tend to not happen here and shootings tend to be between criminals.

In our part of AZ, none of my hippy, pot-smoking neighbors own guns nor dogs nor bother with security systems. We don't have break in's either...
