Around 5:30 yesterday, Dallas police officers were dispatched to 3 MO Tires & Wheels at S. Buckner Boulevard and Military Parkway, where they arrived to find 47-year-old Vicente Banuelos Sr. lying on the ground. He’d been shot — five times, as far as officers could tell, in his chest and stomach. From the look of the casings they found on the ground, police believe the suspect used a .45 semi-automatic.

But they don’t know who they’re looking for. A woman who was at the shop getting her tires changed told police she saw a man just walk up to Banuelos, point a “chrome-plated pistol” at him and begin firing — maybe three times, maybe five. She told police the suspect never said a word to Banuelos, and that after the shooting he took off on foot, headed north.

Another witness, the man changing the woman’s tires, told officers the same story — except he saw what happened after the suspect left. He told officers the man ran east across Buckner. He then jumped into a car and headed east on Hoyle Avenue. But he couldn’t say whether the suspect was driving or if it was someone else. The report doesn’t offer a description of the shooter.

Banuelos was taken to Baylor University Medical Center, where he was operated on. Police say he’s listed in serious condition.

At the tire shop.

 Seriously, it makes me wonder if the shooter wasn't intending to maim instead of killing him. Like the IRA kneecapping people.

The grumbling spirit of Jeff Cooper must be...well, grumbling, I guess...

William Manchester wrote a book about his experiences as a Marine in the Pacific in WWII and tells of a time he shot a Japanese soldier with his .45 ACP 1911 A1...he shot him 8 times before the guy finally even fell over.

If you really need stopping power, get a 12 gauge loaded with slugs.

Go back to sleep, Jeff...

FWIW, it's confusing stopping power with lethality that can lead to... humor, in some places.

Indeed. All the Manly Mens on the internet know that the .45 ACP is the killingest thing ever, because John Browning. I suspect those cops are in the tank for the 9mm Manufacturer's Girly Guild.

(OT: These same MMs never tire of telling you that the huge pectoral muscles of the average Bad Guy will easily deflect the wimpy .380 ACP, because, um, John Browning?). :see_stars:
