Around 5:30 yesterday, Dallas police officers were dispatched to 3 MO Tires & Wheels at S. Buckner Boulevard and Military Parkway, where they arrived to find 47-year-old Vicente Banuelos Sr. lying on the ground. He’d been shot — five times, as far as officers could tell, in his chest and stomach. From the look of the casings they found on the ground, police believe the suspect used a .45 semi-automatic.
But they don’t know who they’re looking for. A woman who was at the shop getting her tires changed told police she saw a man just walk up to Banuelos, point a “chrome-plated pistol” at him and begin firing — maybe three times, maybe five. She told police the suspect never said a word to Banuelos, and that after the shooting he took off on foot, headed north.
Another witness, the man changing the woman’s tires, told officers the same story — except he saw what happened after the suspect left. He told officers the man ran east across Buckner. He then jumped into a car and headed east on Hoyle Avenue. But he couldn’t say whether the suspect was driving or if it was someone else. The report doesn’t offer a description of the shooter.
Banuelos was taken to Baylor University Medical Center, where he was operated on. Police say he’s listed in serious condition.
