Re: Sturmgewehr dodges a major bullet. (pun intended)

Is there any way the owner of the STG-44 could avoid having it demilled or otherwise rendered inoperable before she sells it to a museum? I know that there are no new machine-gun stamps issued to private collectors, but is there a way for museums and other institutions to take possession of a working select-fire weapon?
We don't need conspiracy theories in order to defend the second amendment. In fact they don't help.

They would have to have the licenses for them. I'm sure though that if they are letting her sell it that it's on the NFA registry. That would factor in to it's value.
All problems can be solved with a copious amount of high explosives.
