Black Friday Gun Sales Hit New Record High

The article links record breaking gun sales with the ignorant National Shooting Sports Foundation citing the reason being two different Obama's election results... all the while forgetting to mention that Black Friday means big discounts for cheap ass Red-necks as well as Blue-necks, or essentially everyone who happens to have less money these days for their shooter's habits and wait to make big purchases for times like Black Friday...

This here is responsible journalism, I tell ya wut:

Black Friday gun sales caused such demand that they caused outages at the FBI background check center.

The FBI reported 154,873 background check requests on Friday – a 20 per cent increase on last year’s record total of 129,166 checks.

The requests came in such volume throughout the day that FBI call centers experienced two brief outages — one of 18 minutes and one for 14 minutes — during the busy day, FBI spokesman Stephen Fischer said.

Because a federal background check is mandatory for every firearm sold at retail, background check activity serves as an indicator of retail gun sales.

Saturday's total of 88,419 background checks also earned it a spot among the Top Ten most active single days.

The new one-day record was not unexpected, as the National Shooting Sports Foundation pointed out in a recent blog post, given reports of increased sales following the election of President Barack Obama to a second term and hunting license sales increasing.

As you can see in the accompanying chart, four of the top 10 most active single days for background checks through the end of last year were Black Fridays. The most checks ever conducted in a single day occurred November 26, 2011, when more than 129,000 were made by the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

The second highest Black Friday total was on November 28, 2008, only weeks after President Barack Obama was elected to his first term. That total of 97,848 was a record number of background checks at that time.

Obama's election was due in part to the many law abiding, enthusiastic gun owners who voted for him.

In fact, Obama's election was and cause for celebration, for buying a gun with confidence and anticipation among America's outdoor recreation & conservation interests.

A significant portion of the "Hook & Bullet" constituency once again supported Obama. The nation's hunters, fishers and the critical habitat that supports their existence is better off with Obama at the helm.Conservation and the environment considerations were in play.
The "hook & bullet" constituency was specifically targeted by the GOP as key support beginning in 1980.Many have broken ranks with the blind GOP herd.Obama has made specific overture to the nation's hunters and related interests.......you just have to be close to the issues to experience and know it.
With elections won or lost on razor thin margins,Obama leaning gun, outdoor interests are key.( The broad acceptance of guns for 'hunting' among the general public is a reason the National Shooting Sports org.has championed latest model military/assault arm as legitimate hunt equipment....)Neither the hard right or the hard left seems capable of adressing this dynamic.Nor the NRA or National Shooting Sports org.

Although most citizens can recall Reagan's poor choice for Department of Interior Secetary;James Watt- the fact that many can not recite Obama's brilliant choice for that post speaks volumes. For the past four years the Interior Secretary post has been filled by a hunter, outdoor recreation advocate who enjoys broad support among diverse conservation and environmentalist circles
Gives a whole new meaning to "Gun Country".

+1 on that!
Unfortunately for those of us that are looking for new toys in the interim, not driving by some nutbag Glenn Beck conspiracy, it means we have to pay more for the stuff we actually use. On the plus side there will be some toys out there in 3 years with very, very low round counts though them...

I keep getting posts on facebook about how everyone was been buying every gun they can afford on black Friday. The people buying 3-4 or more guns at a time are funny. Granted I own 8 or so myself, but I go with the philosophy "Fear the man with only owns one gun for he knows how to use it". The fewer the better.
All problems can be solved with a copious amount of high explosives.

Oh yea!! 44 Special Snub an emerging popular model.Ruger may be offering some variations for 2013.

And Ruger has finally answered a strong market pull.... Not so much due to socio-political hysteria but rather more due to decades of pleading....and pleading.....
Way back when....44 Mag appears on the scene.Ruger chambers .357 Flat Top for the new mega round, they blow up and the upsized Super Blackhawk is born.
For those in the know there was demand for the .44 Special on the compact .357 frame. An oh so subtle, giant difference compared to the 44 mag frame, perfect packin' arm.Accurate, and when a 255 grain cast boolit is sent out the tube @ 1000+ fps, perfectly adequate for hunting within standard limitations and other uses.Classic America Wild lands / BBQ Gun thang.Folks would scour the world for 357 Flat Top,send it off for custom $$$refit.
Eventually,finally,recently Ruger announced a Lipsey's 44 Special Flat Top custom offering,to test the market.2,000 total,two barrel lengths.
I have one of one thousand of the 4 5/8" barrel. Perfect FloridaOutdoors piece.

.44 Special now standard Ruger catalog item.

Buffalo Bore and others produce .44 Special 'cowboy loads' and Buff Bore produces 'heavy .44 Special'-not for Charter Arms et al,a load producing 1050 fps.

Well I don't, but wheel gunners and bolt shooters tend to be more level headed than the automaniacs. I'm hoping to see all kinds of used wheelies and nice bolt hunting rifles on the market because people want uppers and lowers and pallets of 223 and nine and 40 ammo. I wish there were more writers like Jack O'Conner around.
