My internist is a good internist. The best really. He's also a new age vegetabletarian weenie, who tells me I eat too much meat but can't explain my excellent blood work every six months. He knows I shoot. He knows I drink whiskey. He once did comment on the danger of guns + alcohol but allowed as how he figured I was smart enough to know that.
My eye doctor is an incredible eye doc. He's also a trophy hunter who's always off on some expedition to bag the last existing something or other. We talk guns all the time, and he did give me pointers recently on calling in the bobcat who was formerly dining on my chickens and threatening my goats. He also knows I think trophy hunters are assholes and he's ok with that. Probably because he's an asshole.

27While we're on the topic of lead, does anyone use lead-less ammo when shooting at indoor ranges? Unless everyone at the range was using lead-less, I wonder it would be worth the expense?
Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I think it depends on the type of "lead-less" you mean... lead-less primers would reduce lead exposure to the individual, whereas lead-less bullets are more about being environmentally friendly

31Excellent suggestion! I work with some nasty, nasty shit at the lab so I suppose I should also get tested for mercury, etc. If I were a fish, I'd suggest that you avoid eating me.I have asked my doctor to add periodic lead level testing to my various regular bloodwork. I reload and I shoot lots of cast bullets. It's something all folks who shoot a lot should do.
My daughter's doctor asked if we had guns in the house, and then asked if the teenager knew how to operate them properly. That was the end of the topic.

32I had to redo the intake paperwork at my doc because I hadn't gone in for a physical in a couple years, and this time the paperwork did ask if I owned any firearms. I filled it out honestly and my doctor didn't say a thing about it. I like my current doc quite a bit.
