Problem is, Mexican federal firearm laws prohibit civilian citizens to arm themselves with effective firearms, particularly in these cases. No AR's, no AK's, no M1 carbines, no M1 Garands. No 9mm, no .45 ACP, no .40 S&W, no .357 SIG, no .38 Super.

In fact, if they are armed with any of the above, they are most certainly breaking the law.

In theory, they are only left with long barreled shotguns, bolt action rifles, .380 pistols, and .38 Special revolvers.

It's bad.
