More Guns, More Mass Shootings—Coincidence?
America now has 300 million firearms, a barrage of NRA-backed gun laws—and record casualties from mass killers.—By Mark Follman

Is there any history of the left-wing media (such as Mother Jones) asking Gary Kleck and Don B. Kates for their opinion on these matters?

Uh, color me confused but didn't those Columbine kids do theirs while we had the strictest gun restrictions in place?

These articles always fall for the premise that criminals will obey laws.
They also make assumptions that psych evals will uncover anything relevant so psychopathic murder will be prevented.
The logical conclusion is to accept that mass shootings are the price to pay for liberty. The check against mass shootings is to arm and train more citizens.
If leftist magazines would understand that political power flows from, not against, guns, we might get somewhere. But many tend to cater to readers who see the solution to victim hood is law. I see that as a glaring weakness on the left.

That's the kind of shit that is written by people who live in neighborhoods where the cops come when you call them and don't stop and question you for walking down the street.
That's a place far from where I am writing this.

"Political power flows from the barrel of a long rifle." Stalin. ;-)
No matter the attribution, it remains a true statement. Anyone on the left who wants to disarm the populace does not have my support. In fact, I have a hard time coming up with very much that I'd accept regulations on. I respect Mother Jones' social issues stances except for the stance on guns. Pure ideology always fails unless it is tempered by realpolitik. To ignore criminals with guns is to ignore the reality of the situation.
The left must endorse guns, and the left must persuade the democrats that that's the correct stance.

Aye CD! Along with Mother Jones, Mark Thompson and Bill Press are two examples of people who get it except for their fear of guns.
