SB249, the CA "bullet button ban", is dead

Several other threads here have mentioned the efforts in the California Legislature, led by State Senator Leland Yee of San Francisco, to ban bullet buttons and the semi-auto rifles that currently are legal in CA with bullet buttons.
According to Calguns.net, this effort is now officially dead, at least for this year/session.

This is as I predicted. For better or worse, there is no political will in CA for major changes to gun laws and regulations. The issue is effectively stalemated.

Congratulations CA.

Those laws out there are patched together with ignorance and chewing gum. I'm sorry y'all have to put up with bullet buttons in the first place, but at least you get to keep them for now.

Yup, my ARs are just total novelty guns because of the AW laws we have. We do have the choice to go "featureless" and not run a Bullet Button, but its at the cost of making any pistol gripped semi-auto rifle into a clumsy abomination.

Now that I know this, I might not be in such a rush to get an AR now.

THIS.
If any of you haven't seen what a 'monster man' grip looks like, I warn you it isn't pretty and it's just as bad to use as it looks.

I have an evil black rifle, and it sucks to bolt crap to your weapon simply because of the shape of the plastic bits you hold onto
I mean everyone knows that grip angle directly relates to the number of crimes you'll commit with your weapon, but still...
All the rifles remaining on my wish list have traditional rifle grips. I'll be getting a KelTec SU16c instead of an AR when I finally jump into the 5.56 platform.

I was born in California, fourth generation. I love it and miss it. When we retire and move back West we're stopping at Reno. Between this nonsense with guns, and the way they jack up my other passion (classic cars) with rote smog testing based on what's installed in the vehicle rather than what comes out the tailpipe, I say to hell with it. Which is really too bad. Did I mention I miss California?

So do I. Unfortunately, the politicians there are acting like jerks and not really following the spirit of the US Constitution. They're just barely following the letter sometimes. Doggone shame, because the San Francisco Bay Area is one of the neatest places in the United States. The people there tend to be very much "live, and let live", and they generally just want to enjoy life to the fullest and be unmolested to do so. And the area is really beautiful.
But going back to live now? As much as I miss its favourable aspects sometimes, a sea change needs to happen. Californians need to start electing Constitutionalists intead of either nanny-staters (Democrats) or theocrato-fascists (Republicans). Maybe Californians ought to start voting for independents, Libertarians, Greens, and so on in the local and state elections?
