Police said Adam Lovato tried to charge out of the store with stolen DVDs but was stopped.

Lovato threatened the employees and customers with a knife, but then one customer pulled out a gun, according to police. At that point, the employees were able to tie him up with rope until police arrived.

If NM's criminal code is like WA's, he's magic! The dumbshit turned a pissy shoplift charge into an armed robbery by waving his magic wand disguised as a knife.

We had something similar happen at the Stop-N-Rob down the street from me a couple years ago. A young guy grabs a case of beer and runs out, but the clerk - a vet - chased him down outside, and he wasn't even the owner of the store! Mr. Thief drew a small knife and cut the clerk, then ran away. The vet's description was so good that the guy turned himself in two days later. He more or less had to - he only lived a block away - with his Mommy.

So he managed to turn petty theft into a Measure 11 felony, and he's barely old enough to take the weight. "Where's the undo button on this game??"
