My local paper reprinted this fun review of a new magazine called "Garden & Gun".

My first thought seeing the magazine title was apocaplyse/crash survivalism -- that's where an interest in gardens and guns legitimately intersects, to my way of thinking.

But this magazine is not like that at all. It's more like "Better Homes & Gardens.... & Guns".

Woah!!!!

I like the conjunction of guns with pleasant country living, but damn that is one limited class perspective on the universe! Also, lots of freshly scrubbed white people in there.

I got a free promo copy last year and liked it. Not really my tastes, but still a good read.

Yes Southern, the gentile country set. And then there are characters that remind me of stories by Southern writers. "Happy Birthday, Po Monkey" an old fashioned juke joint.
