Yes, good article. The victims were very lucky that they were close to a major university medical center and didn't have to be airlifted over a long distance.

Trauma medicine's gotten better and better. Problem is they can keep victims alive, but they cannot make them whole again. A policeman told me here in Cincy, about 500 people a year are shot, only 70 or so make it into the homicide category. Despite that, a number of those shooting victims will succumb to their injuries a year or two later, forgotten even by prosecutors.
