NYPD shot this guy several times killing him. They couldn't pepper spray him? Seems that one bullet to the knee cap would have stopped him. NYPD confiscated phones that recorded the shooting
It will be interesting to see if some more video comes out on this.

I'm not sure about the particulars of this incident but most LEO's are taught to shoot Center Mass.

Police is trained to shoot center mass. Also, most of the police is awful shot so trying to hit small target such as moving knee cap is very risky. Looks to me this guy had a death wish... Suicide by police

With all those cops in the video why didn't they just knee cap him ? Personally I'll be glad to see Bloomberg's term as Mayor end. Starting with the whole NYPD-CIA connection, he's seemed to have been more concerned for the wealthy and business interests which is reminiscent of Rudy Giuliani.

What is it about the NYPD training that results in such dramatic overkill when shootings happen?
When you hear about an NYPD shooting, it's always about someone who was shot WAY more than twice what should be able to stop someone.

I am not going to comment if it was overkill or not. I am just gping to remind everybody of "be aware of yor target and what is behind it". If you shoot at something you have very slim chances of hitting, maybe you shouldn't shoot at all, if there is a danger of hiting an inocent bystender. Just saying...

I have cousins that were NYPD and one that is currently going thru the academy, if I ever remember to ask them I will about their training methods.
There are times I'm glad I never followed up pursuing a career as an NYPD officer, I often wonder how I might have turned out.

One factor is that NYC has a very high density of LEOs, and they use mass response on 10-13 (officer in need of assistance) calls. A situation like this will typically have a dozen cops on scene within a minute or two. That's several hundred rounds on tap, and when multiple officers start firing, all hell breaks loose.
In the Amadou Diallou "43 shots" incident, four cops were shooting simultaneously, and at least some of them thought they were receiving return fire (the victim turned out to be unarmed).

Anaheim, CA has been in the news here because of suspicious police shootings and the subsequent riots. Anaheim hates negative PR it's home to Disneyland, so in addition to the DA investigating the mayor has brought in the FBI. Anaheim is in Orange County, the Republican bastion of California and demographics are changing, it's not a quiet white conservative area any longer.

Bean bags? Tasers! Non lethal methodology? All those cops and they couldn't subdue a man with a knife without someone getting seriously injured or killed? Down here in TN, animal control specialist capture dangerous animals all the time without killing them? Why not call your local dog catcher and have him shoot a hypo into the man's ass?
Our nation keeps claiming to be so much better than all the others because we know the value of human life. We lie through our fucking teeth.

Anyone have good apps that stream the video as it is being recorded?
