When five masked thugs attempted to rob a southern California pawn shop earlier this week, they expected it to be easy picking.
But the 65-year-old woman who owned the shop had a different idea. She scared them off by firing two rounds at the burglars with a handgun set aside for such occasions.

I've never known a pawn broker who wasn't armed to the teeth. Idiots for thinking they'd get away with this.

I should have said shooting. But I have no idea what was in her head. If she believed they were going to shoot anyway, then she was good.
If she shot to protect property then she was a fool but as I said I shoudn't judge her.

Ah... We all judge and that's what's fun about the internet forum, right?
There is something attributed to the Castle Doctrine (me thinks) that allows people to essentially shoot to protect personal property.
I also agree the woman was foolish to fire. As the news anchor repeated of the police interviewed, any bullet that left her gun could have struck an innocent bystander. That woman risked going to jail for the shooting... and for what, to defend 14K chains or bangles?
Foolish.
And yet we all celebrate granny chasing off the bad guys with fake guns trying to rob a store. I admit it was funny to see the clusterf*ck at the door as those kids ran. Don't know what that says about ourselves really.
