Have any of you been checking out this new show (Newsroom ... on HBO)? The content is contemporary and the dialog is quick and sassy. I'm telling you, this Left leaning show really warms the heart of old traditional Liberals like me. It's really too bad, in this case, that life doesn't imitate art.
one of the finest written and performed productions on television...I like where Olivia Munn wound up, it's good to see Fonda again, Daniels is extraordinary and Sam Waterson's character is what I want to be when I grow up....so I can spend my old age chasing Alison Pill around, being the lecherous old fart I have always wanted to be..that and he drinks a fine scotch indeed...

Subliterate Buffooery of the right...
Literate Ignorance of the left...
Since you didn't say it, it's an Aaron Sorkin show. He also did The West Wing, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, The American President, Sports Night, and numerous other things, notably cocaine.
Magnificent show - kudos to HBO for running (and already renewing) it. It's also entertaining to see how right-wingnuts are incapable of distinguishing Jeff Daniels the actor from Will McAvoy the character -- check YouTube for the number of flaming posts about what a liberal douche scum he is for saying Amurca isn't the greatest country on earth -- and that they haven't watched enough to know that his character is a registered Repuglicant who's just trying to get his party to start using its brain again.

Turn your swords into plowshares, but your slingshots to trebuchets.
I love Aaron Sorkin. He is trying to create an Imaginary America.
I don't think anywhere in history we've had people in politics as pure as his characters.
I really loved West Wing, until Bush and Hillary and the others started their wars.
Then the show seemed so out of touch and more of a fantasy than ever. Since Politicians are responsible for us being in war in the fucking first place - We stopped watching it.
We figured if we were going to watch a fantasy show we would watch FOX news. Well that didn't work out. The dialogue was TERRIBLE!
Now we are watching Firefly and British cop shows (few guns) and old Law and Order reruns - snubbies with finger on trigger, the way it should be.
As good as it may be I just can't stand to watch any fiction about politicians.
I had 5 episodes in my Tivo queue; figured it was time to start watching. I watched the pilot last night. Brilliant writing and acting, as with anything Aaron Sorkin does. I just hope it doesn't get canceled as quickly as many of his shows (I still haven't gotten over Sports Night being canceled . . . )
