who is as conservative as anyone i have ever known, but as a riding buddy, we get along since we 'cancel' each other out in any political discussions!

But today, i am having lunch with my SO and she spots Don and goes over and asks him to join us. He brings his wife who makes him appear liberal. Within minutes she is telling us the horror of it all when the UN comes and takes all our guns away! Oh, the horror

How these people get through their days amazes me.

It reminds me of why I remain a liberal.

The UN/Clinton/confiscate guns thing is all they talk about these days. I was in Arizona last week and ended up in an airport manager's office where the first thing that came out of his lips was the UN thing, and how we needed to get rid of Obama since he's such a big threat to our country. :wtf: It makes me wonder how these otherwise-intelligent people fall for this stuff.

Still,

I’m encouraged that the two of you manage to get past politics and remain friends. Where politics is concerned, all too often if someone disagrees with someone else, that can kill any sort of friendship. It’s a sad but true reality. We tend to spend all of our time focusing on what divides us, rather than finding the common ground that unites us. Both sides are guilty of that, but I have to say, I’ve seen far more conservatives who just can’t get past politics than I have liberals.

I have one friend who is pretty much on the opposite side of the spectrum from me. We remain friends even though we poke at each other a little about politics.

He understands that it's pretty unlikely that he can change me and I understand the same about him.

But we have other interests that align, so we mainly dwell on those. Shooting is one of them. :)
