Good TV shows?

1
With the talk about Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, and Justified (from the posts I've recently seen), I was wondering what TV shows you all watch.

The one I am glued to is Breaking Bad. I've been hooked since the beginning. Walking Dead and Dexter are close seconds to that. I don't really watch any other TV shows.

Just wondering what other good TV is out there, if any. I'm just drinking beer tonight, after a loooong past four days, and thought I might check out some other shows.

Right now I'm watching Doctor who after years of hearing about it. But My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is also really good (seriously don't knock it before you watch it, I did, and I ate my words) Both are available to stream on Netflix.
If I hear "crony" capitalism one more time I'm going to be ill. Capitalism is capitalism, dog eats dog and one dog ends up on top, and he defends that place with all the power he's accumulated.

Any brief synopsis that you want to give for each of these? Probably not. I don't feel like checking them all out myself, because I'm lazy right now. And I'm not the kind of person that thinks it's fun/funny to watch Jersey Shore. (Not that you suggested that...I just don't like wasting my time on stupid shows.)

Maybe I'll just clean my .357... It needs it.

True justice and real housewives fall into the bad but good.

We usually mention dramas here, but one comedy my wife got me roped into is Modern Family on ABC.

Good dialog and ensemble acting.

One episode last year depicted the Claire Dunphy character sort of sneaking around, make up little lies to hide her whereabouts from her family etc. The suggestion is that she might be having an affair or something like that. But it turns out she is sneaking off to a gun range to practice shooting a pistol. Secret pleasure hidden from her (presumed liberal) family.

We don't have a TV anymore and the only thing I miss is cartoon network... Given that limitation, I download the BBC's modern dress Sherlock. It's the only thing current I can be bothered to watch. Not quite as good as the Jeremy Brett versions though they're thousands of times better than the recent movie crap.

Occasionally I'll watch Blake's 7, Star Trek or Hogan's Heroes but that's about it.

Masterpiece Mystery (especially the new Sherlock, but I agree, Jereme Brett defines the role), American Experience.

The weird thing is that in our modern world TV has gotten waaay better than movies.
I'm not talking about reality shows and Crapping with the Stars, either.

There has been about a dozen awesome miniseries out there in the last decade or so.
Madmen is the best of them.

They pay the writers more.
"The Killing" was beautifully done.

+1 for modern family

"The middle" is also funny.

Can't watch Mad Men. Lived through the time and I hate marketers.
I can't stand Patricia Heaton (the mom on the middle) ever since I learned she was a right-wing hack.
