I heard an HR person say on a radio show that they don't even bother with names that they think the majority in their company can't easily spell.

Once I watched a woman who was suing people for misspelling her daughters name. It was like Jennifer but Jinyfur or something equally stupid.

At one point the judge said "I don't understand why you keep blaming everyone else for a problem YOU created."

The daughter was also in the courtroom and she nodded yes.

my daughters name is Montanna and she had it long before Hannah Montana,I wasn't sure I was going to like it but her mother insisted and about 10 years later comes the tv show,then she was instant cool

My lit professor once told us in class he came across a not so weird sounding name "U'rene"...

A retired cop from here, (now in GA from what I've heard), has five sons. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The fifth is named Ronald Reagan. I don't know if he has any girls.

A friend of mine had an aunt that taught elementary school. She had a student in her 5th grade class named, and I swear I'm not making this up, Shithead. It was sounded out as Sha-theed. I wouldn't believe it myself I'd I hadn't seen the named spelled out on papers she brought home to mark.

I'm a teacher.

The current crop of made up names is ridiculous, and worth ignoring.

I started teaching HS in the 80's, so the kids of late 60's early 70's hippies got to HS while I was there.

Here are some absolutely true ones:

Holly Wood (seriously....)

Sunshine Cupp

Joy Bliss

I've had a Paisley, a Rainbow, a Starr, a Skye, a Breeze, a Karma, all sorts of flowers (Rose, Iris, Daisy, Aster, Lily, Poppy) and my favorite: FREEDOM (who preferred being called Jack)!

This may be an urban myth but an old friend of mine claimed that his sister, a maternity nurse, had labored to convince a young mother of twin girls NOT to name them Doris and Clitoris.

I can neither confirm nor deny...
