That's great! I enjoyed it very much.

I have known some Irish music purists who would be uncomfortable with some aspects of this, but I'm all for bringing traditional music (and their playing style is straight-ahead trad) to a wider audience.

Even if it means featuring babelicious musicians with skimpy outfits and come-hither looks. ;)

Man, I love that song. Love The Pogues, period.

And that is one drunk bull LOL.

I'm still freeaking intrigued by Shane's pidgeon Spanish gibberish.

The belly dancer outfit did kind of clash with the penny whistle, but it still sounds great! (Should have been more shots of the bodhran player, though.

I'm not proficient enough to get the vid itself on the screen but check this out- Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra doing "Alte Kamaraden"- the Germans know good drinking music too.

Wow, that was great!! Love female bands (or mostly) where talents are displayed and the fact that they were all beautiful women.. just makes it even better.
Makes me want to book the next flight to Ireland!

Thanks!! Now need to find out where I can buy a CD

In the 60's I went with some friends to Carnegie Hall in N.Y.C. to hear the Clancey Brothers with Tommy Makum and we had a great time.
IN the very early 70’s, I was living in Brattleboro, VT. and the “Boys of the Lough”, came to give a concert at the local Unitarian Church. It was the first time I ever heard this kind of music especially when the Bodhran took note and the hairs stood out on the back of my neck.
Of course the Chieftains were the ones that most popularized Irish Traditional Music and the world has been a better place since.
So glad that this great music is available more widely.
I’ve since been collecting this music and the ones that I particularly like are the recordings done in the local pubs, of which my favorite is, Ceol Aduaidh with Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh and Frankie Kennedy.

If I were actually Irish, I think I may have achieved Celtic nirvana that night.

I may be Irish but My dad played for Benny Goodman.

The first time I heard Irish Music was many years later after I'd assimilated most North and South American styles.

My most likely wrong observation was that is where a huge amount of country and bluegrass sprang.

Not a traditional Irish Tune but I love it.
