Only permit I have is a California Handgun Safety Certificate. It's just a paper test, more like a driving permit than like a driver's license. I can get someone at my usual range to sign off on the form, but I like the idea of it being LGC.

Well then, we have at least one official thing to do at the meeting, a CMP safety clinic :)

I would guess that we need to be responsible for setting rules for that and for issuing some sort of letter or certificate. It is my assumption that anyone that has passed one of our gun safety courses or has successfully participated in one of our regional or national shooting events, or participated in at least three postal matches should probably qualify. :)
