Now all I need is a lead on something I want and some spare money. The former is easy, the latter not so much.

Been legal to pack for a long, long time. This lets me "engage in interstate commerce for the purpose of improving" my firearms collection.GuitarsandGuns wrote:You mean you became legal BEFORE you started packing?
What a concept!
Good on you sir!

Actually this is pretty cool. I have coworker that got his FFL to do exactly that.SwampGrouch wrote:Been legal to pack for a long, long time. The process was actually pretty much painless. The only real downside is you have to keep records and be ready to produce them for your friendly neighborhood BATF agent. OTOH, those are the same records everyone wishes to hell they'd kept when their house gets burgled and some puke makes off with all their shootin' irons.Catalyst wrote:Actually this is pretty cool. Still has to be a real bound paper book.SwampGrouch wrote: I guess this is a good time to ask, anyone have a favorite Excel template or DB they use for their "bound book?"
It can actually be kept in a binder. I use an Excel template stored up in the cloud and then print it off whenever there's an acquisition or disposition. Here's the ATF's own definition for a "bound book":wlewisiii wrote:Still has to be a real bound paper book.SwampGrouch wrote: I guess this is a good time to ask, anyone have a favorite Excel template or DB they use for their "bound book?"
I keep an electronic duplicate but if Mr. ATF shows his face, it better be in a book.
http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/license ... bound-bookQ: What is a “bound book?”
A “bound book” is a permanently bound book or an orderly arrangement of loose-leaf pages which must be maintained on the business premises. The format must follow that prescribed in the regulations, and the pages must be numbered consecutively.

I mailed my Form 5310-16 to BATF on June 20 and the license was in the mail yesterday, July 9. Your mileage may vary.ErikO wrote:[H]ow long would it take me to start ordering relics to my door? I'm not in a rush at this point.
Cool beanz that's a changes since I first got mine (more likely a clarification knowing ATF).FelidaFAL wrote:It can actually be kept in a binder. "Loose-leaf" pages are fine in other words.
Huh? OH, _foster_. Yeah, those people suck. Your GF is a good soul to be willing to deal with them - we did international adoption as a way to avoid having to deal with them at all.Sebudei wrote:Congratulations. I was strongly considering making the plunge, but now that I'm moving in with the gf, and her foster daughter... lets just say the County's view on firearms is less enlightened than one might hope.
Ah well, I can dream of being a gentleman farmer one day.

I had a cousin loose his Single Norwegian Farmer status unexpectedly. His wedding and bride came as a shock to the whole family.Sebudei wrote:Congratulations.
