Good on you sir!
Been legal to pack for a long, long time. This lets me "engage in interstate commerce for the purpose of improving" my firearms collection.

Actually this is pretty cool. I have coworker that got his FFL to do exactly that.

The process was actually pretty much painless. The only real downside is you have to keep records and be ready to produce them for your friendly neighborhood BATF agent. OTOH, those are the same records everyone wishes to hell they'd kept when their house gets burgled and some puke makes off with all their shootin' irons.

I guess this is a good time to ask, anyone have a favorite Excel template or DB they use for their "bound book?"

Still has to be a real bound paper book.

I keep an electronic duplicate but if Mr. ATF shows his face, it better be in a book.

It can actually be kept in a binder. I use an Excel template stored up in the cloud and then print it off whenever there's an acquisition or disposition. Here's the ATF's own definition for a "bound book":
Q: What is a “bound book?”
A “bound book” is a permanently bound book or an orderly arrangement of loose-leaf pages which must be maintained on the business premises. The format must follow that prescribed in the regulations, and the pages must be numbered consecutively.

[27 CFR 478.121 and 478.125]

"Loose-leaf" pages are fine in other words.

I've been considering a C&R for about a year now. I have the bound book, my local county chief LEO has my paperwork but I've stalled on sending the packet in to the ATF. I havne't managed to order the upper for my AR which is not a firearm, how long would it take me to start ordering relics to my door? I'm not in a rush at this point.

I mailed my Form 5310-16 to BATF on June 20 and the license was in the mail yesterday, July 9. Your mileage may vary.

Huh? OH, _foster_. Yeah, those people suck. Your GF is a good soul to be willing to deal with them - we did international adoption as a way to avoid having to deal with them at all.

I see you've met the breed.

I get all of their rules, in the sense of, We Are a Government Agency That Has Certain Legal Liabilities, but they embody some of the worst institutionalized non-thinking I've come across in Madison.

I sincerely think that if, $DIETY forbid, I had a Defensive Gun Use, they would try to pull her from the home.

Since that scenario makes me dream of ways to bring the Left into the light of Firearm Acceptance, I'm clearly not a Conservative.

I had a cousin loose his Single Norwegian Farmer status unexpectedly. His wedding and bride came as a shock to the whole family.

Sounds like he traded up.

One hopes, anyway.
