7..... but many of those were just to the 'next town over' so I don't know if they really count. I have basically lived in 4 metropolitan areas.

Echo Park, Los Angeles
North Hollywood again
South Pasadena California

Two places really. South Texas/Northern Mexico border, and the DFW.

Have travelled a bit, but only have lived at these two areas.

The state is broke, our pensions and healthcare are at risk, the place is a ghost town with all the people retiring and quitting. The town is a really decent place to live, the U is a really crappy place to work. With any luck we'll be out of here as soon as my wife hits pittance retirement age in 18 months.

So sorry, Pax. Even in 1983, UIUC was not a great employer. we got back to Tucson as quick as we could.

In sum, PA is not a bad state. Lots of nice small towns, pretty farm land, and low cost of living. Our area is conservative but not rabid. We are considered to be eccentric curiousities by the locals.

In 1983 I was a firefighter at UIUC; and we lived in Tucson in 2006/2007, small world. :)
