Moderation.

It's part of the new world order. If you have a problem, escalate, and mark is the ultimate arbiter.

Rolandson, Fukshot, GG, myself, Ultravox have broad moderation authority. If younhave a problem, the right response is not a profanity laden PM to one of us.

Use ignore lists, report posts, but engaging in ad hominem attacks and ignoring warnings will get a ban hammer.

Read the rules mark posted. Don't be a dick. Don't pee on my rug. Everyone will be happier.

Chances are excellent that if you have been warned, so has the other combatant. Get over it.

And before the deluge of angry emails or pm, if you think it's you, it is, but, if you think it's only you, you are wrong.

So think, use ignore, play nice.

It's not me.

Seriously though, the mods are working hard to keep this place a forum for free and open exchange of ideas without personal attacks and nastiness. It is a thankless job. None of us are perfect and we all have a bad day where we shout something personally offensive or where the mods send a warning when a gentle in-forum reminder might have been less harsh. But its the nature of the beast. We all hang out here in this big dysfunctional family. And the most effective way to make that work is to police ourselves. But sometimes mom and dad have to step in and remind us to be nice to our brothers and sisters. Of course, if mom and dad only yell and scream all the time then the kids stop paying attention - so its a delicate balance. So, lets all take a deep breath, try to forget past indiscretions (except by Gendo. i kid i kid.) and get back to having the best discussions on the internet.

I knew a Comanche man once who told me that at tribal meetings if someone stood up and got angry and emotional, no one paid him or her any attention because they figured the speaker didn't know what they were talking about, but only had 'feelings' about the subject. So, emotional speakers were easy to discount. But it was much harder to tell whether the calm man or woman was full of baloney or not. Those are the ones whose words needed attention. I think that is very true. I have often learned the most either trying to research a point I was making here or by listening to the arguments of someone that I was debating. We all have something to contribute. Yes, even Gendo.

And I want to thank the mods who are doing a damn fine job herding these cats. :)

Not just a damn fine job, but the best job on any firearms related forum on the web. No other firearms forum discusses successfully the kind of emotion laden topics that go on here.

I second that!

Not only are firearms discussions notoriously touchy, but political discussions even more so. Add to that the challenges of groups like ours being a constant target of trolls (and the related difficulty of distinguishing trolls from just run-of-the-mill, well-meaning jerks), and you have an extremely difficult task for moderators.

Well done, all!

edit:,after they let me hang around I realized I was more liberal than I thought, alot more liberal,,is it posible to be a liberal conservative?

I have a friend who is very particular and exacting about how his naked houseboy polishes my aforementioned friend's boots. Corporal punishment is involved and it is not a discussion between equals. I think that might make him a conservative liberal.

Generally a liberal conservative is "liberal socially and a fiscal conservative". I have found that those people will skip out when its their turn to buy a round at the bar.

 I couldn't help myself. Maybe I sometimes feel a bit too much at home here.
Keep it up. Things have been on the dull side lately.
Maybe we should ditch politics alltogether and get to the real bloodbath- arguing over sports.
