Chris Rock joke offends conservatives

Yeah, I know- what a surprise:

A number of reactionary " journalists" ( i.e. hacks ) jumped on Rock's tweet, claiming it was racist.
Since when is historical fact racist?
Then again, a white right wing historical revisionist never passes up a chance to project his/ her racism on someone else.

Happy white peoples independence day the slaves weren't free but I'm sure they enjoyed fireworks.
Oh snap, actually we weren't free at the time either, we wouldn't be free for another 8 years, on september 3rd. Still don't know why we celebrate july 4th instead of september 3rd.
If I hear "crony" capitalism one more time I'm going to be ill. Capitalism is capitalism, dog eats dog and one dog ends up on top, and he defends that place with all the power he's accumulated.

I was watching the end of the patriot when the one guy turns to the black guy and says "we're free now". Not quite for you I said another 100 years of slavery followed by another 100 of discrimination.
An intellectual is someone that can change their mind after being given enough evidence.

I love how the one jackass mentioned in the HuffPo article adds Obama's presidency as justification or proof that all racism is absolved.

Um...

"Your people were brutalized by mine for hundreds of years... BUT HALF A BLACK GUY IS IN THE WHITE HOUSE. I CALL SHENANIGANS ON YOUR TWEET!"

that's kinda racist, too, fella.

The pearl-clutching responses? Those are fucking hysterically tragicomic.
That is what had me almost peeing. "How DARE that...comedian...say that!"
YEAH!! YEAH!!..HOW DARE ANYONE BRING UP ANYTHING LIKE FACTS and the idea that other groups of people don't have the same experience of freedom and primacy in this country. How dare they. No respect for anyone who does that shit...

Why Chris? WHY?!? Why are you trying to divide us when we should all just fall in line with the Affluent White Protestant Christian Male version of how awesomely perfect the United States is? Why can't you just let bygones be bygones like the fact that until 1968 it was still legal to discriminate against you and others like you based solely on the color of your skin? Why point out that those same, now old Affluent White people are trying to find new creative ways to keep you from voting?

No respect I tell ya...since he still doesn't know his place...

*shrug* He's not going for your respect. He's going for your comedy dollar. If you don't like him you'd REALLY hate Def Comedy. A couple former coworkers of mine travel that circuit, they are both VERY funny ladies.

Also, I gotta say, God bless Gilbert Godfrey.

I loved the def comedy jam when it was hosted by Martin Lawrence, there were alot of funny comediens on that show, there were lots of jokes about white people on that show and I laughed at them because they were funny,,and right,I don't give a rats ass if someone picks on me about my whiteness but on the same token I don't really like the "white peoples holiday" statement either, although true at the time it's not now although social injustice still exist,in fact if you want to use that example of blacks and the 4th then it wouldn't be my holiday either because all of my ancestors were still in europe ,it's silly and there comes a time when you just need to let some shit go an concentrate on the now,,lets fix whats wrong now and fuck what happend 200 years ago

btw,I think Chris Rock is funny as hell, especialy his older skit about tussin (robutussin)

Not yet but... probably a good idea to remind people not only of the ignore list but of the general policy here of minimizing what amounts to name calling. And clearly this has devolved into that. Tell each other you are wrong, tell everyone why.... but do it without personal insults. This reminds me of this:
