Very Unhappy With This YouTube Guy

1
Hello,

There is a guy called LogCabinLooms on YouTube.

Several months ago I saw he was shooting high with his Mosin.

I sent him a free sight.

I found this video:

Making My Mosin Sight Easily Adjustable - YouTube

When I went to respond and ask what was going on, it said this user has blocked me. I do not know what might have happened with him except that he lost a contest I was holding.

He pulled his positive review of the sight I sent him.

I used my backup account, "SmithSights", to respond to his video and send him a message asking what was going on. I doubt I'll receive an answer.

What would you do in my situation?

Regards,

Josh

No good deed goes unpunished.

You are doing just about all you can do by publicising that the guy stole your idea.

Don't be discouraged. For the majority of people even doing what he describes is beyond our mechanical abilities, or our willingness to screw up our sights by modifying them ourselves, or even us making the effort to build a sight when we can get a professionally done version from you for a very reasonable price.

You offer "technical support", an implied warranty, and you are a nice guy. And you have an excellent reputation.

I would (and have) bought from you for all of the above reasons.

All I can suggest is that you make some better videos, showing why your sights are worth their small price, how to replace the original sight, how to adjust them, etc.

Like I said, no good deed goes unpunished, some humans totally suck, and there is little you can do about it.

I could only stand about half of his video...a real life red green show. I don't really get what is going on. Is this a review or something?

He took your sight and modified it calling it his own? Never identified that it wasn't his design he started with?

Why did you send him a sight to begin with? Don't send him any more.

Is he making any money on your work? Claiming your design is his? (You hold the patent, yes?) Sue his ass. If not...eh!?

But as it looks like he has all of 120 hits on his video, hardly worth the fuss.

Thank you all.

James, I'm going to get around to the plant quiz.

What happened was that folks got me to rethinking what I thought I know, and I didn't want to poison anyone! That's really all there was to it.

I probably should post this under the plant quiz... do you mind if I use your quote so I can just copy and paste?

Oh, folks, just a heads-up: A future design I'll be implementing and am perfecting right now will use a CETME front sight post for elevation and windage adjustment.

At that time the Classic Target will be phased out.

I shared that tidbit with a couple folks who asked about it, so if it shows up...

I'm not claiming invention of my sight, but rather I know of no others. They could be out there of course, but I've not seen them.

He knows of it because I sent him the sight. That's really all there is to it.

So it looks like the CETME style front sight has the post slightly off-center.

You "gross adjust" it for elevation first, then fine tune it to make the blade wobble left, right, or center for windage.

Clever. I'll definitely try one when you have them available for the Mosin.

It will be the actual CETME sight post. The trick is finding a steady supply of taps in m5x0.25.

I might have to go with an SKS/AK post instead. I hope not, but it's a possibility. It would allow for easier adjustment than just getting your fingers on there.

It's not a problem. I'm not easily insulted. Folks tend to think I am, is all, when I have to go studying up on anything that seems out-of-the-norm.

You're fine!
