There's very little in the missive I disagree with.
Re: A great reason to shun all republicans
2The biggest threat to this nation is the assumption of greatness. Every day, focus, effort, and sacrifice are required so that we as individuals can achieve our personal peaks, and collectively, make the country great by doing so. Believing in some spiritual or moral entitlement to greatness is a sure way to lose it: overconfidence, slacking off, and laziness do nothing to enable achievement or progress.
It amazes me that as these fat, loudmouth repubs go on and on about how the poor are so coddled, and feel entitled to take the money of "real" Americans, they wallow in self-pity and rationalizations for the hard times they face. Grow up, America: you can't be right until you've admitted you are wrong, and yes, sacrifice and hard work are often fruitless and unglamorous, but without at least trying, this country will continue to regress into a bunch of arrogant consumer babies, unable to provide for themselves or think clearly.
So slim down, trade in that V8 for a hybrid, eat some vegetables, and read some f*cking books: the rest of the world is leaving us in the dust, and I, as an American, have too much pride in what our country could be to not do my best, and at least put up a fight.
Wish me luck applying to grad school

Re: A great reason to shun all republicans
3The writer is preaching to the choir. I'd like to start seeing the theme brought up in the general public. I know a few right-leaners who are starting to understand it all looked better in the brouchure.

Puffing up is no substitute for smarts but it's a common home remedy
