Quality control costs money, I think shoddy materials are parts that slip through because they don't look for them as hard as other companies. Plus I believe they pay their employees substandard wages so why would they look that hard.

I won't defend Taurus revolvers. I had one and didn't like the feel of it and I didn't like the trigger. But to be fair, I don't like revolvers period - anybody's. I've never been able to shoot one accurately.
Dan Wesson revolvers, esp the Model 15, are amazing. Finding one can be challenging.

Some of the gun stores I frequent stopped selling Taurus' because of the high rate of warranty claims. Others maintain a large selection. One of the biggest gun stores here told me they won't sell them because 20% of the ones they sold were going back to the service center. The kicker for me was another LGS owner who explained the nasty gash across his cheek came from an out-of-time Taurus revolver that spit shaved lead back in his face. OTOH, many years ago a friend had a PT-92 (9mm semi) that felt as solid as my Beretta 92S. The fit and finish couldn't compare though.
