I'm investing in a flintlock. That way the next time right- wing " survivalists" and scumbag speculators can hoard all the ammo they want.
All I need is some powder and flints. And some lead to melt down and cast into .50 cal balls.

1992? oh right, you're duke fucking nukem, survived a siege and walked through nuclear fall out for tail.

I have about !,500 rounds of 9mm because I saw a good deal. I'll burn through that in probably the next two to two and a half months between USPSA, IDPA, and general range time.

I have 250 of .357 because I managed to find Fiocci FMJ on sale. This will easily last six months.

1,000 of .22, but you buy that stuff in 550 round boxes. Hardly impressive. It will probably last a while.

100 rounds of .44 mag. Again, another good deal I stumbled on. That will last six months. It's just a range gun.

Because I can walk out my back door and shoot all I want, I have a huge stock of ammo. For instance, I know I have 3000 rounds of 9mm, but because I just bought a Lanchester, I will probably get some more.

I average about a 1,000 rounds for any given caliber. That way, if a range trip gets scheduled at a moments notice, I have no excuse.

I need more fat 50 cans for when I get all my 223 loaded up.

Still waiting for the end of my pistol build so I can bring my ammo cans with the LGC stickers on 'em.

I don't count, I know I have a nice pile of lead in the garage by the melter and a cabinet full of assorted primers and at least 20lbs of assorted powders on hand at all times.

What kind of flintlock are you looking at?

A great source for lead for minnie ball is at junkyards. Bring a set of linemen's pliars and harvest both battery terminal connectors from each wreck you can. Pure Pb, just do NOT melt them inside.

you know in a REAL SHTF scenario (yellowstone blowing it's top, Meteorite, or anything where you really are on your own) the only real logical weapon to have with you is a black powder flintlock. Why? the .223 and 7.62 or whatever you want to use, will eventually run out, they're great while you can get ammo for them, but they run out. Flintlocks? you can easily mine lead, blackpowder is also easily produced and flint you can find.

Psh. I'd rely on my ninja skills. My two fists are registered as lethal weapons. I had to get my conceal carry just so I could put my hands in my pockets.

50 rounds of 9mm ball, which is 80 more rounds than were in my arms room back in the day. I don't have the need, nor want, to have stockpiles of ammunition in my home. The mentality behind the need to stockpile for a "SHTF scenario" baffles me.

I get that. However, buying in bulk is cheaper. I save quite a bit buying 9mm by the case vs. by the box.

I typically have
1 50-rd box of 9mm target
1 50-rd box of 9mm hollowpoint (I should get a 100 box)
1 20-rd box of 7.62x54mmR
1 20-rd box of .30-30 Winchester
1 50-rd box of .38 target
1 50-rd box of .357 hollowpoint
5 100-rd boxes of .22 LR target ammunition

I figure in the event of a societal collapse or disaster, I can use the .22 lr for hunting and the 9mm and .357 for self defense and if need be to get more 9mm and .357.

In re stockpiling, I don't think I am there. Certainly I am not prepping. I just shoot a lot and buy in reasonable quantities when i see good prices. Nice to have enough on hand for visitors of the good kind, e.g., when the kids visit and want to shoot. I consider my locale to be a very safe place to live. Hell, I leave the keys in the tractor. (But, no, I won't tell you where I live...)

I have 24000 rounds of .22LR. I don't know if the shit will ever hit the fan but I DO believe civil war is coming to the US and while some may sneer at that idea, not to mention the lowly .22lr, most fighting will be close quarters and I've shot the same gun for 40 years. I can put a round in someone's eyeball at 100 feet and that's close enough for the girls I date. I have enough high-cap mags, I can keep shooting for a long time.

I see what's going on in the US and I feel the tension rising. It's going to happen and while I wish it'd wait the 10-15 years I have left, it won't.

It's going to start over abortion and healthcare and delaminate from there. Keep in mind the first shot has already been fired, into the brain of Dr. George Tiller. Right now we're 0-1.

There will be many many more. American society is almost completely corroded, now.

I stock enough for a range visit or two, but have enough reloading supplies for a couple thousand rounds of each caliber that I reload.

I order ammo online in bulk because it's cheaper that way in the long run. And I hate going through the hassle of buying at Walmart. And buying ammo at a gun range can be like buying food at an airport - big mark-up in price.

I'm only guessing here...

800 rds - .45 ACP
2500 rds - 9mm fmj
600 rds - .380
1500 rds - .38
500 rds - .357

800 .308 FMJ
20 .308 polymer tip
~1300 .22lr
~150 12 gauge target loads
60 12 gauge 00 buck
15 12 gauge brenneke slugs

I used to only stock about 200 of the .308 FMJ for practice, but people on other forums kept bragging about clearing out inventory whenever it came in. So I bought a case of 1k, and my normal sources have been sold out for at least three months since then. It should last me about a year at my current rate.

Otherwise I just stock enough to take a small group to the range.

I usually keep 2-4 50 rnd boxes of the various pistol calibers I have. Enough for a trip to the range and some for defensive purposes. Usually keep 1-4 boxes of 7.62x54r and a box of 8mm Mauser as well, plus I have several boxes of reloaded .30-06 formy '03A3 and some boxes of .308 for my Remington. Oh yes, and around 5-600 rnd of .22.

I also have around 300 rounds of 12 gauge target shells, a stock level which I try to maintain so that I'm never out of shells when at the trap range. I plan to start reloading 12 ga soon though, which should help save $$, though target shells aren't breaking the bank exactly. I've got a pound of BP and maybe 100 balls and some maxi balls in .50 for my Hawkin. I need to get some .44 and .36 balls for my revolvers.

Basically, I want to make sure I can shoot any one of my guns whenever I want, so I keep at least one box of ammo for all of them.
