Nah. Exterminators and hunting guides.gendoikari87 wrote:Physicists, and mathematicians should control the world not CEO's and lawyers.
Unions don't black ball members from their "congregation" for showing up with bumper stickers they don't agree with. They don't refuse services to members for voting gop, the catholic church threatened members who voted for Kerry in 2004 because of his stand on abortion. If the musicians community wasn't so full of scabs I wouldn't have to be assaulted by some drunk and his air head singing Sonny and Cher duets at the bar on karaoke night because there would be no karaoke nights.Unions aren't barred by law from making political endorsements. Unions have a democratic internal structure. Unions don't threaten eternal damnation for disagreeing. False equivalence.
I used to be a member of Local 47.eelj wrote:If the musicians community wasn't so full of scabs I wouldn't have to be assaulted by some drunk and his air head singing Sonny and Cher duets at the bar on karaoke night because there would be no karaoke nights.
well the thing about scientists and mathematicians is they are trained in critical higher order reasoning skills. Sociologists in particular would make excellent public servants. The thing about scientists, mathematicians and sociologists though, is we tend not to be as charismatic as the business and law guys, charisma being part of their job description.goosekiller wrote:Nah. I wouldn't care about background if the Perfect Pragmatist(fictional in politics) showed up.
A little common sense(uncommon) could go a long way.
I know huh? What a novel idea!gendoikari87 wrote:well the thing about scientists and mathematicians is they are trained in critical higher order reasoning skills. then again we could just teach those skills in high school... I know crazy idea right, school as a place of learning.
Who said I hate liberals and Unions. I have been a Union Electrician for 35 years, that doesn't mean I want them to tell me how to vote. I have been a registered Democrat all my life and have voted that way until Obama, just don't like the man. So I guess you aren't as smart as you thought so go judge somebody else.telecat wrote:But they hate unions and liberals, just like you do.bassman wrote:

Don't want to start an argument with you about it but I remember quite clearly that bishops in 2004 were threatning to with hold communion to anybody that voted for a candidate that voted pro choice. If your union ever threatened you for voting for voting for a candidate they did not endorse I would like to see the proof. They always print a list of candidates they endorse and my experience is that it is not always Dem, my union (UTU) has backed any candidate that is pro railway labor or the industry in general. That's a new one to me. None of the Catholic churches I go to ever threatened anybody.
Things must be different where you are. Yes the Union never threatened me. They do flood my mail box with who they want me to vote for and it has never been a Republican. The Catholic church has never threatened to not give me communion because I didn't vote the way they wanted me to. They preach pro life and tell us to vote what our conscious tells us to. Not much of a threat.eelj wrote:Don't want to start an argument with you about it but I remember quite clearly that bishops in 2004 were threatning to with hold communion to anybody that voted for a candidate that voted pro choice. You voted for McCain/Palin?bassman wrote:Who said I hate liberals and Unions. I have been a Union Electrician for 35 years, that doesn't mean I want them to tell me how to vote. I have the same thing ! A brother, a Son daughter in law and other family members I still love them, ignorance is sometimes a handicap, and politics can spoil a family gathering....Skeptilius wrote:I don't hate conservatives - I really don't hate anybody. I do, however, disagree with many conservatives and I think they are misguided and wrongheaded. My older brother is a right wing conservative and he and I never agree on anything much. I still love him though.
same here, although I have voted for Republicans on the local and state level based on their performance and some of them I know personanaly but I also think that Republicans and Democrats work beter together at the local level because they both have the same community in mind,at the state sometimes it's hit and miss but the most the federal level republicans can kiss my ass as well as alot of democrats, all they do is fight and argue and the people like us get fucked,gendoikari87 wrote:uh, since when does not voting democrat mean voting for the republicans? I didn't vote for Obama last time, but I didn't vote for McCain either.
that's because as you get higher and higher you have to have more and more money, and therefore have to kiss more and more corporate ass. At the local level a few signs do the trick, which means you can tell the corporate shills to go piss off.Vodkin wrote:same here, although I have voted for Republicans on the local and state level based on their performance and some of them I know personanaly but I also think that Republicans and Democrats work beter together at the local level because they both have the same community in mind,at the state sometimes it's hit and miss but the most the federal level republicans can kiss my ass as well as alot of democrats, all they do is fight and argue and the people like us get fucked,gendoikari87 wrote:uh, since when does not voting democrat mean voting for the republicans?
