Well, I read through the whole thread and want to sum up several good submissions.
One guy said physicians and mathematicians should control the world. Problem with that is it's already been put forward by an organizatrion called Technocracy in the 1960s. Didn't fly- there are conservative physicians and mathematicians too so they just got in fights.
.
Another person made the point that the old line conservatives have nothing in common with today's Tea Partiers and hard right wingers. Perfectly true. The old time conservatives are more akin to today's liberals in many respects.
Another said that the Becks, Hannitys, Limbaughs, Bachmanns and Palins of the world will be gone in time. As individuals that's true- but they'll be replaced. You have to realize that there are rich demented idiots like Richard Mellon Scaife (who married into big money) and the Koch brothers who will spend MILLIONS to defeat liberal government. They are so immoral that they can't even conceive of doing some genuine good with their wealth like saving lives, eradicating hunger and disease, etc. Well, what goes around comes around. They will be taken care of by karma and I'd hate to be in their shoes. And there's nothing they can do to escape their fates but change completely. As long as people like them exist, there will be new hard right commentators and politicians cheerfully funded. I live in the same state with that corrupt bagman John Boehner but we keep him way down in hillbillyland where they're dumb enough to vote for him. He'd get shot in Cleveland- couldn't win as dogcatcher.
What will happen? I fear civil war someday- and our old buddy Nixon fixed us up just swell with the volunteer Army. They'll shoot down their neighbors without a qualm. Our only hope is to restore the draft with alternative national service, women too. That finally stopped Vietnam in its tracks after Tricky Dick took six years after he said he'd end it and it was still going on under Ford before Saigon fell. But history repeats itself and someday the people will rise up and tumbrils (or paddy wagons) will roll in the streets again to the gallows and take care of the bankers and corporate heads and corrupt politicians- it's a historical inevitability. They'd best get smart first. Me? I want nothing to do with it- and I might not be alive by then anyway.
