Only Corporations will have the right to vote.

There is nothing in the constitution that guarantees the popular vote.
Our actual rulers, The Supreme court will take that away someday.
The states used to elect or appoint the electors.
Then we went to a popular vote within the states.
I see a future when Monsanto will get 12 electoral college votes.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday struck down Montana's century-old limits on corporate political spending, putting an end to the state's resistance to Citizens United and effectively expanding that controversial ruling to the state and local elections.
To John Roberts, People aren't people anymore.

Good thing I don't have kids, I'd hate to have to answer "Grandma, what was democracy like?".

In December 2011, the Montana Supreme Court disagreed. It found that the state's Gilded Age history of business-driven corruption was sufficient to justify the state's Corrupt Practices Act. Passed by voter referendum in 1912, the law decrees that a "corporation may not make ... an expenditure in connection with a candidate or a political party that supports or opposes a candidate or a political party."
By summarily reversing the case, American Tradition Partnership v. Bullock, the justices refused to reconcile their sweeping statement of free speech principles in Citizens United with the real-world facts -- from Montana's history to today's super PACs -- put forward by Montana and its supporters to demonstrate that independent expenditures do, indeed, corrupt or create the appearance of corruption. Instead, the majority, in an unsigned opinion, wrote that "[t]here can be no serious doubt" that Citizens United applies to Montana's law.

The day the right to vote is taken from the people and given to the corporations is the day I start shooting people. At least now they have to throw us scraps of progress every now and then.

Your right is only temporary.
It happened because of Australia. They started the anonymous vote thing.

god bless Australia. And if it's only temporary, so be it. We have to draw the line in the sand somewhere. I don't think they're stupid enough to take the american idol called elections away from the people, it's what keeps most in line and under control. even if they are rigged, the eventually have to throw us a bone every now and then and keep up appearances. Take that away and they have to go back to using force. And using force is an unsustainable method of control. that's what the elite learned from WWII.

Back in the old days it was illegal to buy votes, whether you're a corporation or not.

If it is, Romney's job title at Bain was "Hitman."

Here's a great quote from the original Citizen's United decision:
Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, decided in January 2010, struck down federal limits on campaign spending by corporations and unions as violations of the First Amendment. Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing on behalf of Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, reached the bold conclusion that "independent expenditures, including those made by corporations, do not give rise to corruption or the appearance of corruption," and therefore "[n]o sufficient governmental interest justifies limits on the political speech of nonprofit or for-profit corporations."

I'd bet that more corporate CEOs than you'd think already have bulletproof limos with armed bodyguard/trained evasion drivers to protect their butts from an enraged populace. They overestimated the average American's intelligence though- bet it'll be years before we hear about one being pursued or shot at. Who was it who said you'd never go broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people?

Years ago, a mentor once shared with me that everything moves in a parabola. That is, everything starts out as one thing and ends up another.
America in the beginning was freedom for most, slavery for some. It seems we are fated to slavery for most, freedom for some.

if CEO's think a bulletproof car is going to protect them from the masses they're fucking over, they have another thing coming. the only thing that will protect them in the long run is to stop buying elections and stop stealing from the lower classes.
