Really. I mean what's not funny about George Bush's head on a stick?

To be fair, most of us would be up in arms if it was Obama's head on a stick. But being a socialist who hates bush (well GW, not the other kind) I find it HILARIOUS.

Tasteless, the left would be jumping up and down if it were a Democrats head on a stick, myself included.

Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer and die.
- Mel Brooks

Goes to show the subjective nature of comedy. I think that overall, liberals have a much greater ability to laugh at ourselves, but I agree with the others who have said that we would be jumping mad if it were a democrat's head, especially Obama's head. Republicans do need a sense of humor, but not about this in my opinion.

Apparently, that head is just one in a batch of "rent-a-head"s. They don't have the resources to have their special effects team make the number of heads they need so they rent heads and other prosthetic body parts for use in various scenes. The "W" head was just one of many heads they rented and it wasn't noticed that it resembled W until post production or something and they figured no one would notice anyway.

And then they decided to point out on the DVD commentary that they used a likeness of GW Bush and figured people would not hear that?!

The transcripts of the DVD commentary I've seen suggest that they knew from the get go that they were using a likeness of Bush, and they thought nothing of it. Like others, I think it is tasteless.

But the same GOPers who are oh-so-offended would find it hilarious if it were Obama's noggin up there.

I try to teach my children that they should stand up for themselves when they think something is not fair or correct. I also try to teach them that the actions of others should not dictate their actions. In other words, "just because someone else is doing something wrong it does not mean you should do the same thing". I understand the urge to "beat them at their own game" but there are ways that we can be forceful and aggressive and even snarky and silly, without being tools like them.

I don't think that we should wring our hands and apologize about this other than just admit, "yeah, it was dumb to do, people do dumb things...oh well" I hate it when progressives fire people, or grovel for forgiveness and start ripping into each other over dumb things like the whole Ann Romney thing, ACCORN, and Shirley Sharrod. We are better than they are. Smarter, funnier, and we have the facts on our side. They are just meaner and louder. We just need to get louder and less prone to panic; and not do dumb things that give them ammunition.

Oh, for the love of *^%#@^*(^*)(*&^$@!@$! AHHHHH.

Okay. I've calmed down now.

Who THE FRACK cares?

A rubber mask or head or whatever, with a wig and shot from the side, is used as a prop that is on screen for one second and people take offense at that? I don't think it's even in particularly bad taste. They didn't make it look like W. They weren't suggesting that W's head on a stake would be a good thing. It was just random use of a cheap prop.

The Republicans don't have anything better to do?

Personally, I'm offended that they would put W's head in a shot of people who had been executed for revolt against an oppressive usurper. Who do they think they're kidding?

Sorry for the rant. I'm done now. <takes deep breath> <refrains from beating head repeatedly on desk>

Oh, look at that! I don't have to write a post of my own. I can just quote this one. Thanks.

Also, I'd like to add that it wasn't even a joke for Republicans not to get. No joke, just a convenience of production.

And I strongly suspect they just needed a latex mask and had one of Bush handy.
