Poor dude. He was a mess. I lived in LA then.
Watched the entire first trial of those asses who beat him.

He had a nice face.

I was also in LA then. I learned that civilization is fragile, and being prepared goes beyond just thinking about earthquakes.

Rodney King managed to blow through his $4 Million payout by the city and ended up broke, he was guilty as heck, but the whole affair also shined some light about the true nature of the police, and some corrections were made.

Rodney King, just another guy that happened to make a name for himself by being a self serving jerk.

I too remember it, especially the riots after the state court verdict. It changed the LAPD and helped usher in the Bill Bratton era. Here is a link for those who are not familiar with Rodney King, the famous incident took place March 2, 1991.

While the cops did use excessive force, Rodney King wasn't exactly a model citizen.

Sad, I liked the guy.

They replayed an NPR interview with him from last year on Morning Edition this morning. He sounded good. He seemed to be trying to live a simple life and move on.
