I can't find a place where I admonished anyone for using "cunt." You and I had a different on whether Limbaugh calling Fluke a cunt, etc. was grounds for libel.
Caliman maybe?
Using the "C" word is about as polite as using the "N" word, and should be reprimanded.
As a person with a cunt, I object to the idea that this or any word is in and of itself objectionable. It is the intention behind the use of a word that makes it objectionable.

Using the word "Cunt" in its anatomical context is about as common today as using the word "Gay" to mean a happy person. In every case the word "Cunt" when used is meant as a pejorative, much in the same way that "Dickhead" is a pejorative, although every male has one. Even the word "Nigger" is still defined in the dictionary as "a black person" or "a member of any dark-skinned people", although nobody would argue that the use of the word is appropriate under any context. A member of the group towards which the word applies may occasionally use it jokingly as slang (as in "my nigga"), but I (as a man) certainly would never use the word "Cunt" to speak of my wife's or any other woman's vagina.
In any case, the use of the word is in poor taste and I don't like it.

I find it interesting that it's the women saying they use it and the men saying it should never be used. Not making a judgment either way, I just think it's interesting.

I think the word "cunt" should be banned or at least highly frowned upon. But only if "fuck", "shit", "bitch", "asshole", "meanie", "idiot", "house", "green", "chair", and any other word that has a definition is restricted.
I too noticed that it's the men here who seem to have a problem with the word. It's getting a bit ironic considering the original subject of the thread. (That is, getting all touchy and offended by a word.)
I rarely use the word. Not because I have a problem with it, but because I can usually find some other descriptor that makes more sense or is more precisely defined. For all I care, anyone can choose to use it or not use it for whatever reason they have. As for minors being here. Hahaha!! Riiiiiggghhhttt....I'm sure those minors know just as many, if not more, colorful expletives than the senior citizens here. And they no longer have to sneak the Playboys or Hustlers into their houses under their parents' noses since we're assuming that if they're reading anything on this forum they have access to the internet and its infinite amount of porn. Minors are not innocent blank slates. Especially if they're old enough to have any interest of what goes on in this forum.

There's a joke with the line Cut Up, No Toast but I'm too lazy to type it for ya'll. I'll tell it in person at the meeting.
I swear like a sailor so derogatory words for male and female anatomy amuse me. But I pose the question, does not the name pancreas fill you with revulsion? I've always felt dirty when mentioning the insulin dynamo.

I agree. Times change and I guess this word is more common now than the other phrases used to describe women's anatomy. Cunt used to mean a backstabbing bitch, devious, mean, you get the drift. Now I think it is just used to describe a woman. I can get past my own prejudices about the word and I have no problem with others using it. It's just a fucking word, you dicks.

I believe that it was I who did the scolding. Well, not scolding, but rather explaining as to why cunt is not a term that should be bantied about. Again, it is about context and ownership. People hear the words cunt or nigger coming out of the mouths of women or Black people and think, "see, 'they' use it, why can't everyone?" Context and ownership. Like homosexual people taking back the word queer, to take the power and sting out of it, turning an oppressive word into a word of pride and normalcy, I would imagine the same situation with cunt and nigger being used by the people who have been denigrated by the words throwing it back so as to say, "Yeah, here is a human being using the word and owning it, what now?" and forcing the rest of us to deal with it and understand that we (not meaning all of us, but the collective society) have used those terms to dehumanize people.
I am not offended by words in and of themselves, but in the way they are used. It is odd, but considering the word, "cocksucker", which I have used in the past as a derogatory term but have stopped some time ago. It is supposed to imply a dirty and lowly act, especially with connotations of homosexuality and subservience. However, within a relationship, heterosexual or homosexual, the act is one of giving pleasure and of trust. I mean, our wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, partners, etc.. (including moms and sisters and daughters) have likely engaged in the activity to show love and affection to their partners. We use the term to make other people feel less than or degraded.
I certainly do not want to employ the thought police, especially since I myself have a rather foul mouth at times. I do however wish that people would consider the implications of words before throwing them about. I am all for taking words back and taking ownership so as to take the sting and hurt out of them, but you can't "take it back" if you have never owned it and have never had it used to take away your humanity.

Most people I know use cunt almost exclusively in casual reference to the vagina and vulva. We clearly live in different worlds.
I can't find the quote right now, but Georges Bataille said something in Story of the Eye about cock and cunt being the best slang choices available. I'm inclined to agree and these are in fact the most commonly used words in my social circle.
Example: So, a funny thing happened this morning. I was on my way to the gyno to get my cunt juggled, and realized that I was wearing underwear that read "abandon all hope, ye who enter". I didn't have time to go home and change them. When the gyno saw, the dumb dickhead didn't even giggle. He just wanted to tell me about his sister who is writing her dissertation on Dante's Inferno.

As a male, I feel "Cunt" as an anatomical description is awesome. It rolls off the tongue so wonderfully, especially in, uh, heated situations. I realize that other's don't feel the same way as me, or have the same understanding of the public disapproval of the word, so I generally avoid saying it in public.
I think it just sounds so much stronger than "vagina" or "pussy". None of those soft "s" sounds or that medically accurate terminology, it's that old Germanic root of English that covers all those important things like friends, family, anatomy, eating and sleeping and drinking and fucking.
I'm rather torn as to its use as an adjective ("that cunting car!") or as a term to describe folks. I mean, all the cunts I've been closely familiar with have been warm and inviting and made me really happy to be around them. The ujse of it as an adjective generally is not in keeping with this. The people who in American usage might be called cunts? Definitely not. From what I've heard of Aussie and Irish slang, it's meaning varies significantly based on tone.
Fukshot: "cunt juggler" does have a certain ring to it. I have a hunch that the American Congress of OB/GYNs isn't going to be changing to ACCJ anytime soon, though.

You'd be surprised at how many Yankees are unwilling to say Regina when discussing cities in Alberta....it seems to always come out "Regeena" or "Regna" and do they ever flush when their pronunciation is corrected...

Dear, Mike
I would like to ask why you believe your religion should be the basis of a law. The U.S. Constitution via the establishment claus forbids this. I would like, as your constituent and explanation of why you think this should be ignored, or otherwise an explanation as to how this is not based on your religion, with a scientific and logical backing.
Also, provision d(9)(a) of the bill would amend the current law to ensure that if any listener who hears the word vagina spoken aloud—although it may be the medically correct term for a woman’s reproductive organs—feels any religious objections to such speech, that speech may be curtailed in the interest of preserving the listener’s religious freedom as detailed in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. Any other marginally relevant provisions of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution are herein rescinded as needed.
