Sharks in Minnehaha Creek

I thought this was a hoax but it seems the Minnesota DNR pulled two small bull sharks out of Minnehaha Creek in Minneapolis back in March.
Bull sharks are quite happy in fresh water and have routinely swam hundreds of miles up the Mississippi River. The big ones ( 6' to 8' ) also responsible for more attacks on people than any other species of shark.
DNR scientists believe they swam further up the Mississippi further than normal to escape the backflow of polluted water from the Gulf of Mexico.

Should have read it all the way to the bottom.
Any resemblance in the above story to actual fact may be coincidental and could be disregarded, depending on your mood. April Fools!

Bull sharks are somewhat tolerant to fresh water, however, most of the rivers on the coast aren't true fresh water until they're inland quiet a bit. There have been legitimate sightings of bull sharks in fresh water before... Minnesota might be a stretch though. :D

Here is one of the articles from National Geographic about them: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... rks_2.html

The most that distance that I have read of them traveling inland was 11 miles into New Jersey, until I read that article.

They have made it as far north as St. Louis, and that's legit.

I believe it. They're a pretty hardy species of shark. Maybe they'll make it to Minnesota after all. :D

Unfortunately they're not that good to eat. If their diet consisted of Gar I'd like them a whole lot more.

Minnehaha Falls would probably be a barrier, unless bull sharks are really good jumpers.

The carp ate all the sharks.

.30-06 from an M1 Garand.

But you have to hit the scuba tank in its mouth.
