Air Force after high school, handling documents marked "Top Secret, Burn Before Reading."
Uniformed hospital security then plainclothes retail security.
Small town cop for a quarter of a century or so, a good part of that as the in-house computer geek.
Now retired with a one person PI agency.
My religious preference is Heretic, so Separation of Church and State has been my pet issue for quite a while (which explains an ex-cop that's an active Democrat).

I've been military since 1993 except for a break in service when I drove a truck for a while. I worked as a cook in college at a nice restaurant. I've been a single parent for the last 5 or 6 years, but that status has changed to mere piggy bank now.
I went into the Navy first, the went back into the Air Force. I worked in the meteorological shop for a while where I worked as a technician on the met equipment for the Hurricane Hunters. Now I make stuff not work. I'm a transplant everywhere I go now... home is where the orders are. I started in Florida, then Alabama, Il, CA, back to AL, TX, then MS. I'm what they call "dual status" (an ART for those who are familiar) and it's unlikely that I'll leave again unless I ask to, and even then it's difficult.

Frankly keeping a job for 40 yeas is an achievement. And a dream that many would like to have today.
But sadly may only exist in rare instances.

Jack of all trades at a small R&D company. We do alternative energy, hypersonics (SCRAM Jets), dirty energy improvement, waste-water remediation and other stuff. I am fabricator, designer, electrician, carpenter, technician, machinist, lab tech, facilities manager, algae farmer, etc, etc. Our cleaning lady calls me the mad scientist although I am not actually a scientist-they tell me what to do, or at least give vague outlines. I don't have a degree. I suck most at dealing with computers and software. Don't even get me started on National Instruments Signal Express! I get paid for about 25 hours a week but spend at least 50 thinking about it.
Formerly Telecom Field Engineer, Cellular Field Engineer, Telecom Central Office Equipment Installer, Long Haul Truck Driver, Car Salesman, Bartender, Plumbing Warehouse Worker and US Army Combat Medic.
I also fix old houses, although I'm not sure I enjoy it. I dabbled in real estate and did well prior to the crash which I clearly saw coming and got out in 2005.

I'm considering having this phrase printed on very large gold letters on a piece of scarlet cloth at my wake/memorial:
"I helped bring the Presidential Geo. W. Bush Library to the DFW area."
That's the only way I can guarantee that I'll get ANY tears (of hate, whatever) at my funeral.

I think he was in a home improvement porno. His stage name was Tim 'Tiny Tool' Taylor.
And I currently work in the medical field. Prior to that I wrote state budgets for the Gov. It was nice meeting him on occasion, but the pay sucked.
