dbluefish wrote:Well not horror in the tradidional sense but it was directed by Roman Polanski, who has a taste for little girls, and it is a downright creepy movie. The name, "Repulsion" Was out in 1965 or so and at the theatre where i saw it they had a creepy short as a warm up. Have no idea of its name but the plot basically was of a beach with folks fishing. A man walking along, spies a sandwich lying on the beach. He picks it up and takes a bite and a hook rips through his jaw and he is reeled into the surf. Great warm up! Anyway if you have not seen Repulsion, do so!

When you talk of horror movies directed by Polanski, nothing tops The Fearless Vampire Killers. Its has one of my all time favorite movie lines. When a person holds up a Cross to repel a Jewish vampire, the latter says "Oi, have you got the wrong vampire."

Scared the piss outta me too - when I saw it in the theatre. Of course we'd smoked quite a bit of hash...
All in all - I think John Carpenter's The Thing was my favorite - but the movie that fucked with my head the most - the one that scared me the most, was "Jacob's Ladder"
My fave movie genre! Lesseee,
The Thing, The Shining, The Ring, House of 1000 Corpses,
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, Bram Stokers Dracula with Oldman and Ryder, American Psycho, Psycho, Lost Highway, Blue Velvet, Frankenstein, Frankenstein with DeNiro as the monster, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, that's all I can think of right now.
Amen there.
Scariest quote: Eleanor, seeing Theodora across the room, "Who was holding my hand?"

I agree, Alien, my favortie Sci-Fi movie. I despise flicks like Freddy Kruger or Halloween. One time, in a dream, I ripped Freddy's arm off.
Prometheus is not so much a Horror flick as it is a classic Sci-Fi movie:

Another favorite of mine is a little indie film called Ravenous. It had now big- time actors Guy Pierce and Robert Carlyle starring in it before they were famous stateside.
It is a horror/ action movie as well as a satire on the dark side of the American belief in Manifest Destiny. Set in the 1840s in the mountains of Northern California, the story involves a tiny Army outpost and their attempt to rescue a group of stranded civilians in winter ( ala the Donner Party ). The investigation of the trapped settlers' cave was one of the creepiest scenes I ever saw in a movie.

The woman in black with Daniel Radcliffe was very good plus it was a Hammer Studio production.

I got my biggest theater scare from the 1972 mockumentary The Legend of Boggy Creek when the sasquatch-like critter's arm comes crashing through the cabin window. Damn near soiled myself, I did.
